Toyota is a funny company... heritage means nothing... whether Celica or Corolla, its been both FWD and RWD. Only thing they kept consistent was the Supra. Call it whatever you want, just bring it!!

There has only really been two 'real' Supra's though. As the first two were just Celica's with 6 cylinder engines squeezed in and were called Celica Supra's.

The mk3 and mk4 supra's were evolutions of the mk3 celica floorplan (so its really a classic celica underneath) while the celica went off and was re-born as essentially a Carina/Avensis coupe

Oh well At least Toyota now have the chance to put things right

And besides... people buy Skoda's now.... enough said

I wish MG the best of luck reviving the brand. We need more British car makers.

Anyway back on topic....

Im all up for them bringing back the Celica name
Im only slating them based on past personal experience. MGF 1.8vvc with a head gasket failure after only 8k miles. My own stupid fault for getting one against what my head said.

I can see the change in Skoda, but I think MG has a long way to go.

I dont really mind what they call the FT86 just as long as it lives up to our expectations

Totally agree with you on that one. The K Series lump is a proper dog of an engine

Although saying that..... i bought an MGF off of ebay for next to nothing and sold it straight on to a friend. Its been a year now and the car has never put a foot wrong. I guess there is the odd engine that Rover actually built properly lol

It would be nice if we had the choice... Australia might not get a choice, Subaru Australia only sells awd models

Subaru anywhere only sells AWD models. Until this joint venture with toyota, all Subaru did was AWD. It's their schtick.

They do have fwd models... Usually kei class cars for JDM only though.
Subaru Australia got burned pretty badly by the early fwd impreza models and have since stated awd only...

The new rwd Subaru has not yet been confirmed for Australia and according to aus motoring journo's we may not get it...

If Subaru release a RWD (non-AWD) car in Australia I might post a video of me eating a pair of shorts...

Also @OST
Thanks for that I think I said prior that a decent AE86 starts for around $7500-$10000 here its just rediculous, where as it would seem you can get a very nice example of a car for that over there

What was the speculated name for the Subaru again? 2000RS?
