Impressive! Would definitely consider buying this depending on how exactly it works and whether or not it's removable!

If some reason ever came up where I wanted to remove the armrest there would be ghastly holes in the console. Now if the armrest was designed so that it fit inside the cup holder and you could just take it out if needed that would be perfect.

So is this the factory model you're testing? I've heard that Scion would be offereing one as a dealer option sometimes 4th quarter. Or is this an independent company?

Well, it's not quite factory... but it is OEM. I'm testing out this part (and some others) for Scion Canada and they were ok with me posting up here to get some feedback when I suggested it.

A rear hinge with a slider in the cover so you can tilt it up and slide down beind the console could be a good consideration but add quite a bit to design and cost to the end user. Not sure how doable that would be.

I don't think so. It looks to me like there's a completely new console assembly allowing for the hinges and the closing clasp. It will be a pricey accessory. I am not the inventive type but I'll bet some clever individual can come up with a design that would use the existing console. One idea might simply be velcro attached and when you want to use the cup holders, put the arm rest in the back seat or back seat floor. I for one don't drink or eat in my car.

I'd love the accessory if it doesn't break the bank. Looks much nicer than the stock console. Why couldn't the armrest flip back instead of to the side so both passengers could use the cup holders?

If I knew this thread would get so much attention, I would have cleaned the underside of the armrest! Oops.

Nice little upgrade. I would take one too if price is reasonable.

Also a few suggestions; like some have already mentioned, they would have a lot more people interested if they can implement the following:
  1. a small slot for the power outlet (so wire can thread through for accessories),
  2. a sliding mechanism so the armrest slides back instead of flipping.
  3. a magnet that attaches the base to the console rather than having to drill for installation.

Just my 2 cents, but I would really like to see these on the final product.
