Rydeen Duo on BRZ Limited

The head unit has its own distance grid lines, and so does the camera, so you have to disable the camera's lines. You can't disable the head unit's. You put the gear in reverse and the headunit triggers the camera on.

@sure74, did you have to "delete" parking lines from the camera or did they come that way? Hopefully the one I ordered doesn't come with them...

Yes you have to delete them. The camera has 2 sets of wires that come cut, the green set when
connected activates the camera line delete. I soldered the green wires and covered them with a
small piece of heat shrink tubing (not pictured).

We are discussing the addition of a reverse camera on the BRZ navigation unit. I personally don't
know what stereo options are available for the FR-S.

It took about a week or so for SVXdc to get back to me. Hang in there. He seems like a great guy and very attentive and detail oriented (what a relief!!). I'm sure he's got a long queue to get thru so he'll get to you.

I received my parts. Just waiting for the camera.

I still want to try to install it in the center position on the rear trunk fascia. Will try to see how that goes...

That's what i was thinking also, since mine is the premium, there is nothing in the center, but it's angled a bit. The angle could help or hurt the viewing angle. Interested to see your install.

I have an aftermarket camera already installed with a standalone monitor I have wired in. I dislike doing things twice, but this is such a clean install I may switch.

I had not looked at it that closely. That may or may not be a deal breaker. I want to avoid any drastic viewing angle changes. The guide-lines are helpful for me if calibrated properly. Thanks for the heads up.

where did you tap the postive and ground wires from? I assume you wouldnt want the camera powered all the time

I finished the install this afternoon. After inspecting the mounting surface area on the rear fascia, there is a distinct outline where the factory camera was designed to fit. The biggest pain the in ass was running the wire in the car. I like to zip tie my wires every 6-8" inches so it was a pain. With that said... that was probably the most difficult part of the install. I used SVXdc's full wire harness setup.

Some pros/cons...
The Rydeen is a good quality camera. Mounting is nice. Build quality is nice and the clarity is definitely good enough to do the job. I wish the camera had a wider angle lens. If you're parallel parking you really only see maybe 2/3rds of the bumper area. I think it's enough to know how close to hitting someone's front bumper but it's sort of skewed to the side and again, not centered and cropted on the sides.

Why I chose to mount it on the factory location...
The center position would have worked I think. Yes, the surface area is sloped a bit more by a few degress. Will it affect viewing angle? Possibly since it will point more towards the ground effectively losing a bit more usable viewing area since you'll be seeing more bumper. The deal breaker for the center position for me was because I was feeling lazy and didn't want to adjusting the green/red lines. Those lines are skewed by default so I'm just going to live with it. It's really not that bad.

Took me 3hrs and I was a former installer in H.S. with the right tools.

btw.. where are you guys tapping in for Camera 12v power? I temporarily shoved a wire into the red ACC wire into the head unit. I'll redo it once I received some kind of plug n play solution from SVXdc (if he can come up with one). I really didn't want to cut into any factory wires... call me anal.

Also, how's the VSS bypass switch mod working out for you guys?

I tapped mine into the 10 amp ecu ACC , I'm not sure if that's always on... I'll need to buy a multimeter tomorrow to check and see
