I agree with most of what you said, but despite its weight, the Z is anything but a quiet ride. Engine thrash and tire/road noise are pretty noticeable when you drive it.

The GTI is similar to any other FWD car. On corner exit, more throttle = more understeer. I agree with you it's a fun car to drive, but it won't defy physics.

I drive one, and I wouldn't call it quiet. You can modify the car to make it quieter. Dynamat, quieter tires... You can make the engine note better with custom exhaust/intakes/etc.

But stock for stock, it's a noisy contraption... And I love that about it.

And we were talking about the Golf R, which has AWD and the ability to oversteer if you pounce on the throttle mid-turn. But I should have been more clear in my post.

Ah ok you mentioned the GTI in your post so I thought you were talking about that car. Agree the Golf R is a nice ride, but almost a polar opposite of the FR-S.

Nissan 370Z facelift and Juke Nismo heading to Paris

Quote:
370Z successor already under development.

Nissan will be bringing to this year’s edition of the Paris Motor Show the facelift for the 370Z Coupe and Roadster, along with the production version of the Juke Nismo. The 370Z promises to adopt an updated exterior and interior styling, a new design for the wheels and new color options as well. There’s also a new front bumper with LED daytime running lights as seen in the enhanced teaser image above.
As a reminder, Nissan is already working on a successor for the 370Z that might get a more powerful 4-cylinder turbo engine.
As for the Juke Nismo, this will go on sale in early 2013 and it’s distinguished by the aerodynamic body kit with wider wings, side skirts and new front/rear bumpers. It comes with 18-inch alloys and has a stiffer suspension, torque vectoring and sportier steering – all for improving the crossover’s handling.

Wow, that's the first face on a 370Z I liked. Nice job Nissan.

Exactly, Golf R is an amazing car. Most ppl simply just make assessment here without event try it themselves.

Z is very loud. You hear literally everything on the road.

I guess it wasn't clear that I was referring to VWs as far having a quiet ride goes.

I didn't assess it. I posted a few facts (Golf R: expensive, luxurious and refined, medium-sized, AWD, portly, nose heavy, turbo), expressed some pessimism based on my experience driving many GTIs and an autoblog review, but also wrote:

crazyyankeefan, when you drove the Golf R, how did it compare to your 370Z? Also, have you driven both the Golf R and a somewhat recent GTI? If so, how did they compare?

(please pardon the tangent everyone else... with 1400+ posts in this 18 month old thread, I figure people won't mind)

Front bumper, red calipers, and the sport wheels got updated to a newer look. Plus, the old base coupe rims have been swapped out with the base roadster rims.

I've driven both. The Z is faster, lower, smaller cabin, much more prone to oversteer (obviously) although it tends to understeer entering corners. The Golf R is more comfy, has a better clutch, but it can suffer turbo lag.

thanks to the Dollar-Yen ratio again....seems like the 2013 370z is about $1000 USD more expensive than the 2012 MSRP.

Starting at $33,120, with the 370z vert starting at $41kUSD ...christ...no bueno

glad I bought mine when I did, back before FT86's were a reality.

30k for my base non-sport. It was a lot of car for that cash back in 2010. I'm such an old man now, two whole years later
