A few typos here.

1] These are not Impreza wheels. These are STI wheels made specifically for the BRZ.

2] The BRZ pictured above is wearing 18x7.5 +48 STI wheels. I've created a new thread here.

3] The link enclosed in the text I quoted from you is to the 17x7.5 +48 STI wheels also made specifically for the BRZ. But the pictured car in that thread's OP is of the 18" BRZ STI wheels. I just posted a correct picture of my car with 17x7.5 +48 18.4 lbs BRZ STI wheels in black to that thread.

For full clarification, STI's website outlines both BRZ STI 17" and 18" wheel models here. I weighed my 17" wheels to be 18.4 lbs. 18" wheel weight is still unknown.

Thanks @chanomatik for the suggestion.

Hopefully I'll be able to add the Drag DR-34s to this thread soon. They'll be 17x7.5 with a +45 offset.

Darren, BRZ STI wheels are 7.5 width for both 17" and 18". The display for 17" states that they are 17x7.0, which is incorrect. Just a heads up!

Could a wheel with a 40mm offset be machined to a 42mm offset?

It seemed like a yes to me, but then I realized that if I machined my front wheels there wouldn't be much material between the lugnut seat and the back face of the hub. I think that is the limiting factor. The manufacturer machines the blanks to a specific offset and drills the lug holes so that there is a specific thickness of material between the lugnut and the wheel hub. There might be plenty of wheel stock left to machine, but if you remove the material that the lugnut pushes against, you could seriously weaken the wheel. I decided against it on my car.
