This is why all the power is made at top RPM levels. This may also be why replacing the crank pulley an flywheel make such a big difference on this engine.

My opinion: I wouldn't be surprised if we are able to take this to +8k RPM's with out damaging the engine.

Yes i know i put "lagre" instead of "large" to lazy to fix lol
John is already revving them to 8300 revs!

no worries. I've been so buried with EJ's, some parts design work and the time attack car; that I haven't even had to think.

Crawford, based on your experience can you give an overall conclusion as to what you think about this engine?
If you have done this before can you point me in the right direction, I'd like to read everything about this engine compared to other Subaru models.

I'm interested in FI and so far it seems to be doing well but I'd like to hear your opinion.
If this engine were to fail due to FI what would you say would die first?
rods, block, crank?

I'm honestly concerned about the tranny holding power.

The rods will go first in this motor because the pistons are quite strong. But running the car on pump gas will mean changing the pistons anyways to achieve a usable compression ratio. The block is fine as is the crank. Overall we like the FA motor and think its engineered correctly! The Tranny is quite small, but the car is only two wheel drive and light so that will help the tranny to live. Today we ordered some special components for our clutch package with the concept of keeping the tranny alive, there will be some serious testing to do to find the edge so we can back away from it and end up with a reliable package for the end user.

Arias 9 to 1 compression pistons, Pauter rods 17 to 20 pounds of boost with 400whp ,... the rod bearings failed.....real world,.. in a very short time daily driving it with OEM bearings.....no detonation on 85 and cold plugs Amsoil synthetic 10w40....safe tune, all parameters watched closely....just letting the folks know out there.

What were your oil temps when it failed?

Are they forged or cast? Would rather have a less beefier crank that was forged vs cast..
