With that said here is the update I got today.

"Parts are on order I do not have a def ETA I am told to quote you October but I will let you know that I have had customers have their parts within a week. We appreciate your paitence and we can talk about an extended warranty and us making your car payment for the month or 2 months if it goes into October. When I have an ETA on parts we can talk more on compensation."

What more could I ask for my car is getting fixed. Sure I would have liked it done yesterday but at least they are attempting to help the sting of not having my car.

I am suppose to get an update this time next week with ETA on parts and I will post what that ETA is.

^^

This all the way; I've been lucky in having a dealer who has been great about the process, keeping me updated, etc... But I knew there was potential for "problems" buying a new model/make, first year. That said, the only thing that has me upset is the fact that I want to drive the car! I'm just hoping that two months from now, I'll be driving around completely past the fact that a day after I got it from the dealer, it was in the shop!

Call Scion at 1-866-707-2466. I have a case number and a case manager. I talked to them right away with out having to wait for them to call me. Cars been in the shop since 9/10, no word from dealer on ETA yet. Scion said they could not offer me any compensation until the car is repaired. I'm asking for 100,000 mile power train warranty if they want to keep me in this car. No faith in the car right now.

I get the same thing. No compensation until after it's repaired.
This just doesn't make sense to me. Why not send me something in writing so I can feel good about my wait. We all know words are just words. I drove my car 3 days and they will have it over 3 weeks if the parts do come in on Monday as expected.
As it stands now, my car is sitting outside, nothing being done and no promise to be compensated for the hassle of a brand new car.

Take it for what it is, but a good buddy of mine that works for Toyota Corporate said this evening there's a stop sale on the FR-S due to the 'CEL issue that requires a reflash' as there's no parts to fix it.

Got my car back from the dealer today after having the Cam Gears and Oil Control Valve replaced.

It did NOT fix the problem. Hopefully they'll be ordering an ECM for me tomorrow. I'll be stopping in to follow up with the service manager.

The real issue is that when I came in to get my car after the cam gear and ocv were replaced, the car was making bad drone noises from the motor under load, light or medium load. And there was an absurd ticking noise off throttle, like lifters weren't getting oil. Took the car straight back, unfortunately they were closed.

Obviously not happy about this. Bringing a car in to be fixed and getting it back worse than it was in the beginning. I know the mechanics aren't subaru mechanics but the amount of trips back and forth, phone calls, stop bys, etc. for this brand new car are getting out of control.

Not sure I understand why they are having the mechanics pull the motor apart before trying the ECM. ECM, cheaper, more simple to install... Am I missing something?

I'm far from a mechanic, but I'd be pretty worried about a loud ticking after having work done on the cam.

Oh as you can imagine, I am definitely concerned about it. I left the car at the dealership and put the keys on the service managers desk. Luckily a friend of mine was able to come pick me up.

I had an Elise a while back that had a camshaft go bad. The dealership replaced the camshaft but missed a tooth or two putting the chain back on. It was ticking like no other but they swore they couldn't hear it. Few miles down the road the engine grenaded itself.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm close to 4k and I don't have a CEL yet. My idle dips frequently, however.

Really?,,, come on now. Nobody has died and nobody will. Toyota and Subaru are working hard and fast to get to the core of the problem and are taking good care of their customers. They did not get to be the worlds largest automobile manufacture by "not caring".

You are just being a punk ass bitch.
Grow up.

He's not saying somebody will likely be injured, he is saying that Toyota won't really give a damn until bad press from such an event happens.

And he's right.
