Clayton is also my case manager and I've been a headache to everyone but the service dept. So far I've been told that as of today all my parts will be at my dealer by Monday or Tuesday of next week. (Cars had the CEL since day 1, 24AUG). He's told me I will be compensated for my 1st month payment which isn't due til late October AFTER the car is fixed. My question is have they been actually following through with this same promise with the guys that are already back on the road? Since I have nothing in writing I'm not sure how much I trust this.

First never never never trust anyone or any corporation for that matter via their word. Always have it in writing and from the dealer get in their letter head.

With me sometime this week they will be getting certified mail about my starting the lemon law process. Even tho they already offered me a new car or my down payment back towards another vehicle. I still am surprised the media isn't aware of the issue by now. I may send in a letter with the forum list to my local news broadcasters, Or at least anyone having issue with stubborn dealers print out the list show the dealer and then lightly threaten using the lemon law and contacting the local media outlets . They will work with you.

See my dealer has absolutely nothing to do with me getting anything along those lines in writing. Didn't buy it from them, but actually traveled from IL to KY to purchase the vehicle. Not financed through Toyota etc. I'll be contacting Clayton tomorrow to try and get things straightened. Pretty much tell him a verbal promise doesn't ease my mind at all etc. I'm not in the window to claim the lemon law if not it would've been there.

And Honda with their exploding '08 Civic engines...of course any manufacturer can manufacture a turd, the difference is how often or frequently that turd is manufactured. Sticking with Toyo and Honda provide the smallest chance of these issues historically in both the short and long term.

Also I've been around the block for a while and thankfully the wife is a lawyer and is well aware of things... but that post was directed to those who's problems were sorted out already

The frequency isn't high enough yet plus there is no danger involved with the flaw. This is not unintended acceleration, it's a bunch of spoiled brats whining about their new toy not working, so goes their perspective.

Can't blame them I guess. Look at all the crazy issues with the Porsche Boxster and the bearing failures. What, you expect 60 minutes to do an expose on it?

Not bloody likely!

I cant speak for everyone but the only thing I am upset about is not being able to drive my car. I knew going into the first model year I ran the risk of this happening. I have not raised my voice or been an asshole to anyone at the dealership or my rep about anything.

With that said here is the update I got today.

"Parts are on order I do not have a def ETA I am told to quote you October but I will let you know that I have had customers have their parts within a week. We appreciate your paitence and we can talk about an extended warranty and us making your car payment for the month or 2 months if it goes into October. When I have an ETA on parts we can talk more on compensation."

What more could I ask for my car is getting fixed. Sure I would have liked it done yesterday but at least they are attempting to help the sting of not having my car.

I am suppose to get an update this time next week with ETA on parts and I will post what that ETA is.

I dont really care if it has issues. The biggest issue I have with this whole fiasco is the lack of communication. The blame for that relies 100% on Toyota/Subaru.

Mine too.. FR-S 115 miles

Got my baby on Sunday, 9/9, my CEL came on yesterday in traffic, extremely rough idle. VIN #7297 Service appointment today with the dealer. I wish I had read about this issue sooner...

UPDATE: Sent an email to the dealer telling them about this and asked them how long I have to return the vehicle. Actually I know i have 3 days to return it, but I cannot be dealing with this issue after 2 days. Will see what they come back with. I won't wait for my car to be fixed upwards of 20+ days.

Update 2: Shop said i have a bad ECM..only one in the US according to the mechanic, waiting for it to arrive today overnight from Cali and should have my baby back today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed..

I thought i was the first/only one in Sweden with the problem but today i found out that there is one more car here in Sweden with the same problem. So you can add "noname" GT86 and i think milage was about 1400KM.
And so it begins....

Also the Toyota tech i talked to said he talked to the "toyota bosses in sweden" and that there might be (what they thought) some kind of spring that was manufactured to weak in the cam sprocket and that's why the cam sprocket fails, or something along that way

They also said that they are shipping all new replacements part to Brussel in Belgium (Toyota Motor Europe is the European Head Office of Toyota and located in Brussels, Belgium) for an additional quality check before they are shipped off to Toyota dealers for install, atleast for the European market. Hence extra long delay in parts arrival.

Not sure how much of a clue these guys actually have yet, hehe

Just called the service guy, and frankly the only helpful person I've encountered so far, and he says that they are sending out an expedited box of parts for my issue.

They should be here this week week, car should be ready next. He said there's 17 line items on the parts list, a few in quantities of 2 and 4. If you guys would be interested I could try and find out that list, I bet he would send it to me.

From him reading over it, it's the usual suspects, a lot of what is on Subienate's list.

Knowing not much about cars, I asked him just how intrusive this repair is, and he said it isn't bad, but it's "no joke" and they have their best guy doing the work. It's a big Toyota dealership so hopefully they have competent people re-assembling my new baby

I Still haven't heard back from the Scion USA office.

I just called Scion Corporate and logged a complaint. Not about my service guys, but about the fact that my new car is in the shop. They're supposed to call me back tomorrow, so I will post what they tell me.
