That's bullshit. You can install them yourself in a few hours with hand tools, and an alignment is less than $100. Don't feel like you need to spend $2000 or whatever on coilovers right now just so you can save money on labor doing it once. You don't need to upgrade your dampers right now either, but you can and yes, a set of Konis runs about $800. A set of chinese coilovers cost the same but will blow out before the Konis do, guaranteed, and the damping adjustment is a joke.

My vote: RCE or Eibach on stock struts and call it a day.

Not to get too far off topic, but I think I just jizzed in my pants.

I've always wanted to get a set of those for my GC impreza. Guess I might have a shot with them on the BRZ.

Now back on topic,
I would recommend figuring out first what you want from your car.

Some questions you should ask yourself are:
Do I intend to track the car?
Do I have to have a certain look?
Do I want the bling factor of having expensive coilovers?
Do I want to have some performance with some style?
What is my budget?
Do I have a budget to rebuild the coilovers?
Do I have a budget to properly balance the car if I decide to get coilovers?

Based on the answers to these questions, I think you will have your answer as to what you should get.

From what you have posted so far though, my opinion would be that you should probably go with lowering springs instead of coilovers. I would go with RCE's springs, but it seems like you want more of a drop.

Everyone has differing opinions on what they want from their car, so figure that out first and plan accordingly.

Hope that helps.

How about me... What recommendation you could give?
My pure intention is dropping the car low (30-60mm) and no track purpose, but still want the comfort of a stock ride. what do you think?

Springs + Dampers... Cost?
Coilovers... $1200 up

pull the trigger on coilovers with adjustable dampening(sp?) ....i always tell this to my friends that want to "drop their cars" . They go with lowering springs, regret it, then go to coilovers. Adjustability goes a long way, BCs are usually good for daily driven cars.

-another thing i noticed people didnt mention on coilovers vs. springs are the size difference. Coilover springs are smaller than lowering springs in most cases which will allow you to run a wider wheel

I'd like to do a slight drop, but I want to preserve (and maybe improve) the stock handling. I'm considering the RCE springs, but I'm not sure whether to get the springs only, the lite pack (that comes with springs, oem camber bolts, and whiteline rear camber bushings), or the full starter pack that adds the whiteline top mounts.

I'm really just doing street driving so I don't need anything TOO aggressive, but I don't want the lowering springs to mess with handling.

Any advice?

Get the springs and oem camber bolts, the whiteline rear camber bushings probably aren't neccessary and aren't exactly easy to install.

Thanks. I think the folks at RCE are saying that to get the proper alignment in the rear after the drop you really need the whiteline rear camber bushings. But yeah, I've heard that they aren't easy to install and require some unusual tools.

I think you can skip the WL Com C mounts for your uses and just stick with the Starter kit lite. You get a good look, a nice and noticeable increase in handling feel, and with the alignment parts no extra tire wear. You can get away without the rear WL camber kit, but it will improve handling and tire wear.

How muche the rear camber change with a -30mm drop?
The rear toe is adjustable without any modification as stock, right?
