Toyota is without a doubt, unequivocally, positively the best car manufacturer on planet Earth. And therein lies the problem, this isn't a Toyota. If it were, I'd have bought one on the first day and possibly had mine in the shop like you folks. |

Toyotas can suck just as much as anything else. We had a 4 cylinder Camry right when the warranty ended the bottom of the engine blew up, it's a known issue for that car, look it up. $6,000 repair with no help from Toyota. Absolutely despicable. Just saying ...

i think it would be toyotas fault too, they own 16 percent of subaru or somthing like that. And I dont think it is as simple as subaru design everything to make it move and toyota just design the shell for it.

Is it just me or is anyone else noticing that many of these repairs are being handled just under the 30 day lemon law triggers?
Back in 2002 I bought a new VW GTI and was out of my car for days and weeks at a time while the mess with the 1.8T coil-packs was getting sorted out. VW prioritized the parts, sending them first to states with the most aggressive Lemon Laws because their risk of loss was highest there. The weaker the laws in your state, the longer you waited. Now my FR-S is in the shop with no ETA? (I have a strong sense DeJa Vu coming on) I can't believe that i'm suffering through the same crap again with a Toyota/Subaru product.

Engine power was reduced but otherwise the car sounded fine. I didn't get any weird smells nor engine grumbling. Cold start sounded a bit off this morning but it could just be me over analyzing.

I just picked mine up from the dealer. It was there for a total of 6 days. I believe mine was dealt with so quickly, because of a fellow ft86club.com member (SubieNate). He pressed the issue, to get parts in quicker (which they did for all of our cars in the shop at that moment).
Here's a list of what they did: SU003-04522 Unit-EGI Control SU003-00096 Valve Ay-Oil Cont SU003-00287 Spkt Ay-CMS,Exh Lh SU003-02183 O-Ring-12.1x2.5 00295-00103 FIPG Oil Pan 00272-GTBC1-01 Super Long Life Coolant Blue Notes: 445 P0019 Ck Engine Light on 140991 8.90 Technician opened case with TAS. Technician cleared codes and swapped OCV. Technician test drove vehicle. Technician removed and replaced bank 2 EX, camshaft gear and OCV. Technician also replaced engine ECU as per TAS. When I signed the paperwork to get my car back, I noticed it would have been just under $2,000 to have the above repaired. |

New to the forums; my situation so far:
Just purchased my new FRS (69mi on it - 8/31) and drove it home from the dealer. Took it for an evening joy ride (nothing over 4500 rpms) to 107mi. Parked it, woke up in the AM (9/1), turned the car on and CEL & SL were lit. Called the dealer, but had to leave for a weeks vacation. Got back Sunday and brought the car in yesterday (9/10)... Received a call back yesterday that they will need to replace some parts (Code Pulled: P0019, Crankshaft Position Bank 2 Sensor B) and that they will give me an ETA on repair as soon as possible. The car is listed as critical to speed up first repair. Received a Toyota Matrix as a loaner... Disappointed that this happened so early (107mi, really?!?!), but expected some "hiccups" with a new model and early adoption... Though a bit upset that I have now traded in my 33,000mi 2006 tC which never had any issues, for (at this point) a Toyota Matrix, the only thing consoling me is that when it is finally working, driving that FRS is amazing in comparison. Something my tC never gave me... Anything I should be worried about, beyond what looks like a massive wait time to actually drive my new vehicle? If I'm waiting "too" long (They are giving me an October Estimate), there is no way I'm letting them force me in to that first payment ![]() For the List: FR-S, 69mi, ######, 1 week - w/Dealer for repair, CT, P0019 - 8yr/75k Warranty Last edited by FT86Raven13; 09-11-2012 at 01:58 PM. |
