Recommendation for Mild audio upgrade
Hi guys, getting really annoyed of the stock audio setup. Looking for a mild upgrade possibly swap out all front speakers, chuck in an amp and eventually grab a 2-din touchscreen.
What do you recommend for: Dash speakers, size, brand Door speakers, size, brand Wiring, can I run new wiring to the dash? I havent taken off the covers to check yet. Anything else I need to know? I wanna get a slim sub a bit later too, but that will be on a monoblock. NOTE: I want good quality clear sound. doesnt need to be 1203130123 watt system, but clean clear solid sound. any guidance would be great

Any answer you get to most of this will be followed by another saying the one before it is wrong and then another saying both of those are wrong. And all of them will be right.
I'll try to answer the objective stuff. The door speakers are 6.75 and there's enough depth there that you don't have to worry about so long as you use a spacer. From what I've heard you can use up a full inch of spacer. I've used .75 myself and would agree that 1.0 should work. The dash is not very deep and there doesn't seem to be any kits that would directly swap in to those. So a set of components and some home made tweeter mounts is probably the best your gonna do, unless you either make your own crossovers or run active crossovers. Yes you can run wiring. |

Perhaps some sound deadening/dampening is in order. It is the foundation of any great sounding system

I was going to say "Very Carefully!" beat to it. Actually it's not hard at all, put a flashlight in the foot well's facing up, pop the speaker cover, pull the speakers, and look down. Lots of paths to take.

Focal 165 KR's up front (6.5" on door and 1" tweet on dash ) have spacers for both, pm me if you wanna know who to buy them from.
For backs I have got 4" JL two way speakers , I don't remember the model number off the bat. 10" W6 in the trunk, one alpine PDX 1000 for the amp, one pdx 4 channel for all speakers . For sound deadening I took samples of the top 5 candidates for me and I left them in the car and they all look like crap all slimy and crap so I won't be doing that. Deck will say for a few month till kits come along I won't suggest anything coz like ye first person said everyone will say others are wrong , but that's my set up .. Gives you an idea . |

thanks for the assistance guys. I am having trouble finding components for the dash.
Most decent components are 5 or 6.5 inch.

I just went with infinity kappa components in the doors then infinity kappa 3.5 to replace the other 4 stock speakers. I then took the tweeter from the door component and put it in the dash. I'm running the door components off an amp and the smaller 3.5s off the head unit (avh-4300dvd) I'm running a single kicker l7 in the trunk for bass. I love this system.
I think upgrading the door speakers to components and adding a sub would be the best though. You don't get much out of those little speakers anyway. |

How do the Infinity speakers sound? I had a look at them last night, they seem pretty nice
