I think you meant 6K Subaru BRZ's. Not sure of the Scion FRS numbers, but they're more.

The stock ECU has not been reverse-engineered as of yet to allow options like ECU Flash to be able to be used. There are rumors that it is almost complete and there are rumors that it's nowhere near being completed.

The good news is it can be done. ECUTek did it first. It's just a matter of time, the variable is the amount of time.

theyd be stupid not to do it in all honesty.... missing out on the the most promising aftermarket supported vehicles seems like a silly thing for a company dealing with... aftermarket supported vehicles.

Also, consider there are other new cars coming in like the boosted Focus, which I imagine they would be working on.

I'm sure they will revisit if a factory FI version is produced. That would be more in line with their business model.

Toyota/Subaru said they are looking to ship 100k twins worldwide yearly.... Defiantly not enough huh? However I did post on their Facebook just to ruffle some feathers and they did respond that there are no plans. The MAJOR plus is that the guy who cracked a lot of the Subaru Roms for Rom Raider that works for them should not be under any liability by helping out the effort. I personally would be willing to drop a substantial amount of money for someone to develope the code and me be able to license it. If anyone knows someone that can make if happen, pm me. I'm not talking hundreds of dollars either.

I think eventually it will happen with the open source software, if Ecutek found a way to do it the open source community will as well.

As for Cobb to me it's strange they will not develop any parts for the car. No exhaust, intakes, etc. but I guess they have their hands full with other projects.

Hard to say about Cobb. I'm talking with EcuTek about a license given no one in my state and 3 out of 4 that surround it have ANY EcuTek licenses. Still like the open source option just because it would be cheaper for the end customer. A tune can only cost so much, but the number of tunes you can sell can be greatly effected by the cost of equipment/licensing that the end customer has to take on with the cost of the tune.

I must say there usually is a LOT of trial and error in both cases as any community built open source project will inevitably have.

It's not all that different from others that have been cracked before, just a development process like any other. Hell, they still are doing new things with Evo's and WRX/STI's that have been open source for years

I am sponsored by cobb on my evo X and was told straight up that there will be no AP or big time parts for the BRZ. They are just not interested, sucks cause they are a very reputable brand

I was meaning say in the last 2 years.

Speed density, live tuning, map switch, multiple maps, wideband integration, true anti-lag.

Lots of stuff there
