What are the DIY tuning options?

I see plenty about the commercial ready made flashes available and they look quite good. However, I am a tuner myself and not really wanting a out of the box tune. What are the options for the self tuners out there like myself?

None yet, unless you become an authorized tuner for ECUTek, of course.

IIRC They wont be making Access Port for the FRS/BRZ since its NA and they specialize with turbo setups. Could be wrong, but i remember reading something about that on other threads. I was waiting/hoping for AP but was saddened

As of right now none, diy tuning and access port has been coming "soon" according to people for months now without a spec of it in sight.

Went by Cobb last month. They indicated it probably wasn't going to happen.

That's both surprizing and disappointing given the nature of the car and how many people are going to be modding and adding turbo kits. As for the open source, Visconti made a valid point about that taking longer with the main decoders for roms now doing work for Cobb, but if Cobb isn't doing anything for the BRZ, then maybe they could be swayed to the open source community!

I sure hope so! Do you think we should start a petition and see how many people would sign it, and set up a donation fund?

very saddening to hear cobb won't be offering tuning support. even though it's n/a, it should be given that once parts are thrown on the car, like we will all do, that it should get tuned for benefit...and it's not like nobody will buy the AP, cause cobb is amazing.

I wouldn't say never. I'm sure if in the future there's a FI version of this car, they would think about it a little harder

You just have to look at the production numbers, and it really doesn't make sense from a business perspective. There are only 6K twins being shipped to the US this year, and only a handful of them will get turbo kits added. As much as I'd love to have them make stuff for us, it wouldn't make for a good return on the effort required. Also, consider there are other new cars coming in like the boosted Focus, which I imagine they would be working on.

I'm sure they will revisit if a factory FI version is produced. That would be more in line with their business model.
