I replaced the OEM air filter with a K&N today. The filter has 3 rounded corners and 1 square corner. So the filter can fit in the air filter box only one way. The square corner goes down and to the left (when you are facing the car). Nice bit of engineering to make it "idiot proof."

Another easy way I figured it out was you'd want to have the greatest surface area of the filter facing the incoming air.
