Just where I always wanted to shove my iPhone.

I've seen this kind of thing numerous times. I really wonder who would ever have thought it was a good idea.

I think this is a Subaru stock photo from another car, and it is listed on the website because the BRZ has the USB-AUX ports in the center console.

I'm fairly sure there isn't a USB port in the glovebox.

I'm pretty sure you just plug it in and use your nav to control music/phone calls. Once you leave to go into the store or house you take it with you. Looks less cluttered than a wire hanging down next to the shifter

Me, but not for an iPhone. I use an iPod to store music and that's a much better solution then having the plug by the shifter. It hidden, out of the way and doesn't require moving it out of sight after you park the car.

I agree with the other poster in that it doesn't exist on any brz though but I plan on moving mine to the glovebox.

Yep, that's exactly what I wanted to do in my FR-S (iPod in the glovebox) but there is no USB port there, and the HU in the FR-S has only one USB port, with no ability to use a hub.

Well I doubt I'll ever use the one by the shifter (I tried and it was annoying) so once I move it I'll be happy. I can get a long cable from the glovebox to charge it anyways.

However I'm waiting on the armrest, which is normally where I install such cables. Depending on the design the arm rest may be a better idea.. just have to wait and see.

Just about everything I own and use in a car now uses USB for charging.

For now, I have a short black iPod cable plugged in and the iPod (which is also black) in the slot in the center stack. You can't even really see it from outside the car, and it is out of the way. The short cable came with one of those "near flush" USB charger plugs that I now have plugged into the DC outlet where the cupholders for use with either my GPS or my DroidX if needed.

Eventually, I'll most likely get a new HU with GPS and will make sure it has two USB ports. I'll then run one to the glovebox, and one to the existing port on the center stack.

I'm looking forward to seeing the armrest too. Not because I'd likely use it for an armrest but for additional storage.

Yeah the car needs storage for some stuff like sunglasses badly! My cupholders are being used to store glasses, sun pass (electronic toll device), my wallet for longer drives, etc.. sucks when I want to actually use it as a cup holder

Agreed. I use the one in the door for most of that, and I've moved the binder for the operators manual, etc to the trunk which helps.

Good idea on the owner's manual, I should move that

I started using the door initially but found how annoying those cupholders in the center as as cup holders so I use the door one for water/sports drinks/etc and only use the cup holders for redbulls and wax paper cups (ie fast food). At least there's a good spot for my cell phone

I'm a "Diet Dew Super Big Gulp" kinda guy so the door cup holder doesn't work for my drinks typically! I have perfected "the reach with the left hand under the right arm to the cup holder without looking" move though since my right arm can't quite bend back that far!

Those pictures do look like a BRZ glove box, maybe the canadian version is different.

Funny those pictures show a Pioneer X940BT Nav which is exactly what I am putting in and moving my usb port to the glove box (since I use a dedicated ipod for my car)

You are right Canadian models get the x940bt which is different from the us models. But why are you changing it to that? If I understood correctly those on us models have more functions than Canadian one. E.g. Voice command, traffic report...
Anyway, if it is true, then the Americans would have perfect solution installing a USB into the glove box.
