This is awesome! I've been thinking about some kind of tablet in car for a while now. I'm glad to see you working out the kinks..

I'd love to see Torque as one of your quick links.. a quick mate with a BT OBD2 reader and you've got a fantastic gauge cluster

I wish there was a tablet that would run GPS, satellite, integrate with the car audio, & have good sound quality...

Torque is on there, the demo will be coming soon.
I asked Ford and Hyundai product planners why they dont embrace open source. And the answer has been consistent that they need complete control of their software that and have serious legal fears. I think most oems and aftermarket have the same issue.

Would it be possible to install a tablet in the dash and be able to use a backup camera? Maybe some type of splitter attached from a headunit with a video out into the table? Just thinking out loud..

The Nexus (or any other tablet as far as I know) doesn't have any video-IN ports.

Just a quick update, I have been now through:

1. 3 Different Head Units
2. Various Cable Setups.
3 Tweaking the front bezel, cutting etc.
4. Reworking the interface.
5. Trying to figure out volume and head unit control
6. New vinyl covering for bezels
7. Planning for making, existing AUX and USB port functional.

Should have more pics this week.

have you considered headphone jack out to a JL Audio clean sweep?

Honestly I don't see the point of the clean sweep?
I mean basically if someone actually cared about the source quality and output quality you would cut out the headunit output and replace it with something more high end. All the clean sweep is a glorified filter.

It's like noise reduction/mpeg reduction on video, the image may appear cleaner but it loses detail.

It's too bad that there's no iPhone Apps that can use a OBD-II Bluetooth adapter with Apple's bluetooth stack, so iOS users are left using a slow Wifi connection. I'm a huge Apple fan and have a MacBook Air, iPad 3, iPhone 4S, Apple TV and will be ordering an iPhone 5 tomorrow, but I'll be buying a Nexus 7 or other Android tablet for my car just so I can run Torque.. However, this jailbreak app looks promising..

Why not get audioson one for expensive option or get a equalizer for cheap option. That what I planned to use.

I'm planning in future to just use my galaxy s3 with dslr monitor and graphics equalizer
