Like Sam, I've heard from quite a few folks that STR is the class.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't continue asking for STX (and prepping for either).

the only real difference in STX vs. STR is:

1. The type of cars your running against...
2. Pax modifier..STX is a bit softer than STR.
3 Tire width...255 vs 265...

All othe Mods crossovre from one class to the other...

STR class leaders are S2K's
MX5's
both have Wishbone suspension

STX leaders are BMW's and RX8's. WRX's used to be competitive in the class but with with weight and torque of the Bimmers...they seem to have the handling advantage.

Personally..I think STX is damn fine class for the twins...I don't think the twins can win in STR...the S2k's are putting down about 240 whp ...where as the twins will probably top out about 210 or so...

my 2 pence

Even if they put the car into STR, they can reclass it within 12 months. I think the feeling is that if they class the car too early, that 12-month window might close before top drivers are able to prep the car and compete in a season's worth of events, including Nats.

You would not want to judge this car's potential in CS, for example, based on my performance at Nats.

Classing would be locked down long before anyone knows the car's true potential -- and no one wants to unintentionally nuke a very robust class.

Actually, (and slightly off topic), the 2.5L WRXs go in STU, not STX. STX rules specifically state turbo-motors are capped at 2.0L. Which means only 02-05 WRXs are STX. I just had to bring this up because I was just talking about this last night with my friends. I used to have an 11 WRX and had to run STU, where I constantly got wiped out by STIs. I question the fairness of making WRXs run with STIs as mod for mod the STI will be faster with the same driver, but I digress.

However you're on the right track, as a 2.0L WRX has started coming out to our local events and is wiping the floor with all the other STX drivers (it's one reason, ashamed to admit, I gave up STX and jumped into C-Stock). Although he is a DAMN GOOD driver to boot...

Only the '09+ WRX is in STU (after they jumped to 265 hp). The '06-'08 WRX, although they are 2.5L, were moved into STX.

Well STX was faster than STU, STS, and couple tenths off of STR at nats. If the BMWs can be that fast, I dont see why we cant be in there. And I realize the driver is not of this world, but still, the car had to have a little to do with it.

I think the car belongs in STX but I still don't know if it will be put there for next year. I have a feeling it will end up in STR just due to the uncertainty. STX and STR are probably the healthiest classes and the scca isn't going to potentially upset one.

If someone can get one down to 2550 or so and hit 200whp it's going to be a fast car and I think it could be competitive in either class. STR top to bottom was quite a bit faster than STX.

Cars don't get classed in SP automatically, someone has to write a letter and request it. So far, no one has requested the twins be classed in SP. Until then, it falls in the catch-alls listed in CSP. You just can run national events with those listings.
