The back seats are a total joke, but you CAN put car seats there in a pinch. I lug my 3 and 5 year olds for really short rides to school, etc. I would never use this as a true "family" car.

At age 3, you can consider a booster. (they can be in a booster at age 4)
My 3 1/2 year old is pretty big, and though I'd like him in a 5 point belt, I bought a booster for the BRZ. (full booster w/ back support, head rest, and seat belt positioner.) My 5'3" wife fits fine in the front seat with my son in back. We take the car often and everyone enjoys the drive. |

I sat behind the passenger seat today and was pleasantly surprised. I came to a realization that "THIS CAR IS MADE FOR ASIANS!" My wife is about 4'10" and I'm 5'4". My butt slides perfectly into those little cutouts that they call seats and with my wife and I upfront we can totally sit some other short folks in the back. My family and I will be fine! I don't know about you tall ass anglos though. LOLZ! When we have kids, I'll just throw the infants in the back, put the seat belt on and use old T-Shirts and Jeans to stuff in between them and the bolsters. GTG!

Anyway, I use my FR-S daily to haul my 4 & 1 year old from place to place. Not the best family car, but I make it work, lol. At least I get to drive my sports car daily without much excuse...

I have the same car seat (Sunshine Kids Radian 80) and it fits fantastic in the rear seating area. The legroom can be a bit cramped with a front passenger. |
