It could be said both ways. 86 is a nice car, but seriously, you owners need to stop thinking it's the best sports car in the world!!

What really settled this for me was in the latest video where Chris Harris takes a seat in a BRZ, then after a 370. The cameras seemed to be in the same positions and in the BRZ, proper, excellent seating. In the 370 it looked like he was in a 1980 GMC truck. When I drove my co-workers 370 it just didn't have the same excitement the BRZ did.

There he goes again, same old BS. People should be banned for this, IMHO, since it's nothing more than trolling.

Do you just surf random forums telling people what to think? That's pretty cool...

Apparently you have not yet garnered ownership of a sports car.
The Elise makes 190bhp and 138lb/ft, get your facts straight. The Elise also cost a hell of a lot more. If Subaru and Toyota wanted to make it as fast or faster than an Elise, then it wouldn't cost $25k anymore, so fewer people could enjoy it.

2012 Audi S4 6MT. That close enough to a "sports car" for you? The point you all seem to miss: the reason why so many people are coming out of these uber-fast sports cars and getting BRZ's and FR-S's is because fast does not always equal fun. I could blow the doors off most cars on the road in my S4, but was it necessarily fun? Not really. The car did all the work, I just turned the wheel and shifted the gears. God forbid I got the S-Tronic transmission, then I wouldn't even be shifting! And if I'm a lousy driver, so what? The car is going to compensate for my lack of skill. That's why although I was very impressed with it, I wasn't sad to see it go when my 6 month employee lease was up. How much fun can you really have in a car that is so capable that going 80mph feels like going 20? I'd rather go 80 in my MR2 and feel like I'm going 80! I don't give a damn if your car is faster, 'cause I'm having more fun in mine, and can exhibit my skill as a driver, not let the car drive for me.

Troll, troll, troll...

Didn't you read earlier, Subaru and Toyota paid off all of the magazines and websites.

I am not going to say the car is the best car ever but it satisfies a current niche no other car really fills right now. Sure I wish it was 2500lbs and 250hp but then it wouldn't be a 25-28K car. That's just the reality of things.

neither of those goals are hard to get too though. honestly, light weight rims, drop the spare, remove unnecessary things like back seat, possible A/C ect drop on a quick spooling turbo or cams, cam gear I/H/E re-tune and walla.

I agree that 2500lbs and 250hp stock would have been nice however like stated previously by you and others..it would be in a much higher price range.

Heres my opinion. I believe the 86 could go around a corner faster than a 370z, I believe that this(86) is a sports car that focusing on one thing, handling. Handling on par with supercars. I want to see how it does against a rx-8, and all these comparos should be on the same tires.

looks like someone is validating his point. :happy0180:

i also really hate this same tires argument. why not same price? same engine? same suspension?

But I posted before that happened - and anyway, saying the handling is "on par" doesn't mean the car is the best ever built

You should revisit the tires discussion you had not long ago, when people made valid points about why it's OK to use the same tires. Re-stating the same arguments just to be ignored/rejected again, for no reason is pointless.

Same tires because the BRZ and FR-S are fitted with low grip tires specifically so those who want to goof around and get sideways can do so, whereas most performance cars come with better summer performance tires. That the BRZ/FR-S post the numbers they do on the tires they have is impressive, and when switched to similar tires that the competition runs, are remarkably quicker.

In racing, cars have specific guidelines for tires in order to keep them from having an advantage in that area, so this is a similar idea. Those things being equal, then you can say it was the car that won and not the tires. I.E. if a dude beats me around an auto-x course by 2 seconds and he's on slicks vs. my street tires, I can't tell if the car/driver is faster or if it's just the tires. If we're both on slicks and he beats me by 2 seconds, I can attribute that to a better car/driver. If the same driver and same tires are used for both cars, we can properly attribute the win to the better car. Certain things should remain constant in order to make a proper comparison. Make sense?
