So then why have you decided to get rid of your custom set up? Have a new one in mind?

I'm just about to go out and drive my car hard with the Airaid. They sent an additional lid which I might fiddle with to see if I can get some of the deep tone back. But then again, that would open up the top of the assembly to allow some heat.

I'm going to play around and see if the Airaid is truly to my liking, modified slightly, or in general go with my CAI V2 type of setup with a new design. I'm really trying to get on to the next project.

Getting a car wash and quick opinion. My CAIV2 is like an electric guitar...raw and loud. The Airaid equally performs as a guitar with a different sound but similar performance. I'm down about 50% in volume and getting used to a different and unique vrooom sound. The Airaid IMO based on plastic and larger flow with a sealed box is why it sounds the way it does. Kind of like a vacuum cleaner. Their both good yet different.

Here's a cross post of interest:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...453#post402453

On another note. Removing the metal cover on the AIRAID definitely brought back the raw sound that I was used to. In fact, it had even a deeper tone. I did finagle with measuring the temps with and without the cover on. Having the cover on reduces heat over ten degrees. I put the cover back on and going to get used to the sound.

BTW - My CAI V2 is available for anyone who wants one.
