For those of you who followed my Stock Intake Tube Rubber Delete, we have kicked it up a few notches for our own Custom Cold Air Intake we put together on both my Subaru BRZ as well as TBBandit's Scion FR-S.

Here is a parts list of what we used to assemble these systems:

1-My Extended Custom Finished Pipe w/Grommet
1-Spectre 8791 Black 3" Low Profile 90° Elbow Boot with 2.5" Insert and Band Clamps
1-Spectre 8771 Black Intake Tube Coupler and Band Clamps
1-Spectre 9405 Air Flow Sensor Mount Tube
1-You Pick Air Filter, Custom Brackets, and Heat Shields

The sound is like night and day.. so much more aggressive and deeper

the video doesnt fully capture the sound, hard to believe all the noise comes from the motor on a stock exhaust.. should also be noted my sound tube has been deleted. the cabin has been relatively quiet, until the CIA went on.. everything bolted right up to Xcelir's custom pipe ( i also dig the red )...beyond words awesome

Drove around a little bit tonight with my brother-in-law and youngest daughter. I took it easy but I had to show off. They've seen my laborious efforts throughout the last weeks, and especially today with TBBandit. They were both really impressed with the quality of my design as well as installation on both cars. They were most impressed with the deep growl and bad ass sound the car made under load (in high gear, it's barely noticeable). They also could tell the car revved and accelerated much faster compared to another trip last weekend we took. We were all giggling because we kept chirping the rear tires. I did not drive it hard (like TBBandit and I normally do). BUt rather, I semi-grannied it. Anyhow, this mod brought back the excitement to when I bought this car.

I am very pleased and I can't see how we could have done it better. It exceeded my expectations and we are using the factory cold air with definitely NO CEL lights coming on.

Our next move is to dyno the system when possible and affordable. We can both tell you that there definitely is increased HP that we achieved. Don't know how much, but the assometer could definitely feel it. And the sound is to die for (not literally of course, but I did bleed today) :)

I really want this kit! Price it cheaper then the rest for a good competitive advantage and I'm sure a good chunk of the ft86 community will be rocking this kit!

I'm not selling the kit. Buy the parts at Summit Racing or Amazon or wherever you like. However the secret sauce is my special fabricated pipe I put together. PM me if you have questions. When they are gone, they are gone, not planning on making anymore.

And FYI - you can add up the cost of the parts and you'll sure to see that the sum of all is much cheaper or half the price of manufacturers kits/products.

Though, I don't compete. This is a DIY alternative. The little guy gave a try and has succeeded so far.

And this is all about customization and uniqueness.

Great work with your custom intake but this thread lacks step by steps and any info on how to obtain or make the secret sauce custom pipe with grommet. Hope you add additional steps and share your thoughts on the design and piping. If not this is just a journal that a Mod can move to the technical exhaust and engine section to clean up the DIY section. The point of the DIY's is the give directions on how to procure the materials and how to put it together for the beginners.

so the thread was mostly aimed at those people that were following but gave new people a chance to see what he was working on without having to have missed it since it was a bit buried in the original thread. and he did supply a parts list at least. Everything on the list is pretty easily obtainable and pretty clear to install if you look at the pictures...

Although I do agree that if he would have made a bit more of a clear reference(with link) back to the original thread that it'd be a lot more noob-proof, but it's not all that bad. It also explains how he made his "secret sauce" tube.

I'm curious as to just how much money you've spent buying and modifying various intakes in the last month...

Good question. In the hundreds of dollars range. My Amex bill proves it!

When I posted other stuff in the non-DIY, it always seems to get moved here, so that's why it originated. The pictures are worth a thousand words, and the link I provided showed the step by step instructions via pictures on how to do it as well. If you go to my web site, there is a myriad of information also which I try to provide pictures on this forum as well. This CAI is an easy install as well as the stock intake tube rubber delete which is even easier. The parts list can be Googled to get the cheapest prices.

The how-to on creating the pipes itself from raw material to finished product I probably will not provide as the average Joe doesn't have the tools or skills to do what I did.
