I'd probably be in for it too. LV is only about 35 minutes from where I live and even closer to work (dealer by Cabelas in Hamburg).

Actually, I've been rethinking the route. There was a Berks Run that another s2ker put together that started at Loves off of exit 23 on 78, and ended at Hans Dairy farm. We're currently discussing another Fall Drive. I've come up with some potential routes and will be scoping out the roads to make sure they are drivable and more importantly, fun

I just drove a new route I put together which was a hybrid of a run from Berks and a run starting in the LV. This would be a good LV/Berks run.

It starts at the Target on Cedar Crest Blvd and ends at the CrackerBarrel in Fogelsville, PA, which makes the after-brunch drive home about 1hr for the Philadelphians, and about 1.25 hrs for the New Jersey folks.

Route: http://goo.gl/maps/aw6JT

The roads all pretty much backroads and very empty the more west we get at around 10-11am. Kister Road by Schnecksville, Windsor Castle by Hamburg, Mountain Road by Locust Lake are all epic.

The connectors are all long-windy roads with a couple of twisties here and there, but mostly forest viewing or sight viewing, which is pretty nice.

There are some awesome roads up by locust lake. I know that area! I haven't been on the road alone yet in the frs. I've always had passengers so didn't want to risk driving stupid and having collateral damage. I may be able to add to that route and make it more fun depending on what his route is.

Just looked at the route and you got the good roads there from Orwigsburg up through Middleport. Those are some fun roads!

I'm in (if I get a BRZ/FR-S by the date). Also, are the group drives kept within the speed limit. I don't like to go 5mph above the posted speed limit. Not kidding. I drive slow!!

The groups that I lead along with my GTR buddy don't tend to be within the limits...at all. Sometimes when the groups are large enough, there's multiple leaders and different group leads will have various paces. Honestly, I know I'm part of the jackass group. There are others that tend to lead more "spirited" drives.

However, Jackass driving doesn't mean illegal passing or any stunts that would be a significantly higher-risk maneuver to the participants and other drivers.

The challenge as always with these drives are finding leaders willing to pre-drive the route, learn it, and lead a group. Groups > 5 (inc leader) tend to get challenging to keep all the participants together. Up to 7 is decent, and anything beyond 7, is not very enjoyable for those in the back as the latency between take off and moving can be quite large. The slower drivers, and the paint-obsessive should stay in the back of a group as that's the "safest/slowest" spot to be in.

A ~70mi drive can be done in about 1.5 hours in the backroads. This 100mi drive being done in 2 hrs vs the google maps ~4 hrs is a a significant difference in pace.

Since you're from the area, I'm sure seeing that route just makes you salivate. =)

So let's shoot for a sunday some time.

Looking to have the run meet at 7:15 and start at 7:30.

I'm thinking either
9/9
9/16
9/23

Any preferences?

I'm from northeast of Philly area...I'm definitely interested but really don't like mornings heh. I think we have a tentative King of Prussia meet scheduled for 9/9, so that might not work for me. Would hugely prefer a ride later in the day though, but that's just me.
