Compared to my 370Z and Camaro, this is much more practical.

370Z: no rear seats; mediocre trunk hatch thing, decent gas mileage and fun as hell to drive though
Camaro: shitty gas mileage, heavy and not too fun to drive, fast, decent rear seats, decent trunk
FR-S: slow, has emergency rear seats, decent trunk, and great gas mileage, fun as hell to drive.

I fixed the slow with turbo so now I have the perfect all around car

Get the car. Who needs friends?

But here's photographic evidence that a person can fit in the backseat, and you can also get your bike in there. Just not at the same time.

Everyone saying that the trunk is VERY LARGE, it is not. I have to put the seat forward just to put a rifle case in the trunk. It is more like a medium sized trunk.

this car is alot of fun. bring someone with you to share the fun. take someone home after a wild nite of drinking in the back seat .. that way they dont notice how crappy and crampped they are.
moountain biking , canoe, trailer in the back, practical for 2 small kids, etc etc.
you guys are just dreaming. like another guy said.. impractical.

thats why i kept my other car. This is nothing but a sports car.

if you want practical dont make this your only car... no way.

How big? Hard-sided or soft? I'm asking because I've put quite a few rifles in the trunk, some of them pretty large, and none of them required me to go in from the front. Angling the rifle case was enough.

I still need to try it with my Steyr M95, that one may be long enough to require dropping the seat.

Thanks for the pic! I believe that my case is a 40". It just barely wont make it in. I put the seat down, put the case in, then pull the case towards the back. If i do it that way the case will barely fit running diagonally and I can put the seat back up once it is in. In my M3 I just put it in and never had to mess with it.

Hmm. I wonder if it's just the particular shape of that case. The SMLE in that picture is 44" long just by itself.

You might want to try a different case. Still, if it works the way you're doing it and you don't mind it... why change?

And yeah, it's not a big trunk. It's a large trunk for a sports car. For anything else, it's pretty small.

I KNOW the car is impractical. Thats why I'm asking if there is an icecube's chance in hell that I would be able to hook up my bikes to the car, or if the rear seats were remotely usable. Thanks for being constructive?

The backseats are not meant for adults (or children IMO) for long trips. Drop the seat down so the trunk area is expanded.

Bikes have been attached by members... and I think a few snowboards etc...

I like it to be impractical. If you like it to be practical and find times when it's not practical enough, you might start regretting that you should've bought something else.

...and this was why I had to get a WRX.

The FR-S is practical if you want to make it practical.

You can fit a bike in it. But no one can ride in the back seat.

You can fit a baby seat in it. But it can't be behind you and your passenger has to be 4' 3".

You can fit your friends in it. They also have to be 4' 3".

You can fill up your car to the brim with heavy stuff. But you'll feel it.

These are the trade offs in life. The FR-S is perfect if you only want one car, you're single, or wife does all the kid stuff, if you have and want a second car (which kinda defeats the purpose of DD the FR-S).

I have a WRX sedan and even I sometimes wished I would have gone for the hatchback; they are just so practical.

Numbers-wise the WRX and FR-S are about the same on a road track. Drag strip: WRX, FR-S: AutoX.

DD it depends because the cars are so different. The shifter on the WRX sucks and needs help (bushings, short shifter) to get it to a decent level. The stereo is a little less than OK. The turbo'ed engine is obviously not as responsive as an NA engine and handling-wise there is some body roll and understeer. Other than that, comparatively, it's still fun. Plus spend a little over 1K for a stage 2 and you can make 30-40 more hp.

I love the FR-S, but I didn't want to buy a new car and sell it a year or two later for a car with bigger space.

This is a sports coupe, not a family sedan... I don't have one (yet), but it should be quite obvious that 4 people will not fit comfortably.

Although, I managed to get 6 people to fit in my 02 accord coupe somehow, on multiple occassions lol... granted there were only skinny 18 yr old girls in the back... lol

Makes me wonder though if I could even fit 4 people in my E36 coupe, I think it has about the same legroom in the back as the FR-S... what we did in the accord is push the passenger seat all the way up, tallest person obviously gets the front seat, and tiny people get the rear... we managed to make it work, but I enjoy owning a coupe because 95% of the time Im driving alone or with one passenger, and I find that coupes are way more comfortable in the drivers seat than sedans. Call me selfish, but I hate the thought of sacrificing my comfort for a rear passenger lol. Besides, owning a coupe gives your friends incentive to buy something roomier for themselves... I didnt buy my car to hand out free rides, after all.
