I got an oiled filter. Never had issues with oiled filters in the past, just have to make sure not to overdo it when recharging it. Sounds like almost everyone with issues has the dry filter too.

I have put over 300 miles on it and only experienced the bog once directly after the install.

93 octane with ethanol
Texas so elevation is low and temps are high.
Mixed city and highway driving including a 80mph highway (yes that's the legal speed limit)
Varying driving between spirited and normal.
Snorkel and sound pipe stayed.
Only other mod is an axle back

Figured I'd list the conditions I'm in that the intake is problem free so those having the issue can compare. Maybe we can narrow this down.

I removed the sound tube, but left the snorkel in. I am taking the car to a meet and greet tomorrow in Toledo, so I'll be logging some miles with the new intake.

David, I'll be sure to take some pictures in the daylight of my car and the install and get them posted tomorrow.

Thanks Airaid and AJUSA for making this a great experience thus far!
Thank you very much, and i look forward to seeing them

Very happy with both products and the customer service from Airaid is top notch!

No issues at all after 30 miles. I removed the snorkel and disconnected the battery to reset the ecu.
Thanks for the feedback. Don't forget to post a picture of the car for our Facebook album.

If you had a Tune and the car ran fine and then installed the AIRAID and you are having a problem, then the TUNE needs to be adjusted to work in conjunction with an aftermarket intake, which clearly it was not designed to do, nor could it be since these were just released.

This Tune was clearly designed to work on the Stock Fr-S/BRZ car and now aftermarket part's are being introduced, so the Tune will need to be adjusted to work with the aftermarket part's. You can't expect a Tune designed for a stock vehicle to work in-conjunction with aftermarket part's.

Not sure how familiar you guys are in the Mustang or Camaro world, but those car's are so sensitive that each respective aftermarket Intake does require a different tune. It appears that is what we have going on here, which is fine, but that needs to be discussed in the Tune thread, not Intake thread, if that makes sense.

If you are 100% stock and are having a issue, then that is something we will absolutely look into, but if you were running a Tune and then installed the AIRAID and are experiencing any issues, then that needs to be adjusted in the Tune to accommodate for the respective intake system.

Thanks,
David

i dont think ANYONE expects to re-tune or reconfigure anything. if this product doesnt work with a simple plug-play then people like me wont touch this product with a 10-ft pole. i hate the way you guys are talking to us like we have to take it back to Scion/Subaru and have it re-TUNED. like they are going to know what that is... ??

fix the product so it works off the shelf or it sounds like returns will be coming your way soon...

Hello rikdrt1,

The AIRAID is a direct bolt-on and does not require any aftermarket tuning. We have never stated that this unit needs tuning, as it does not.

With all due respect, we have also never mentioned about taking the car to the dealership for tuning either, not sure where you read that information.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
David

Lastly, we apologize for deleting some posts on this thread, we did so with bad judgment however with no intentions of hiding anything. We are here to support you and the FR-S community and will remain here for the duration.

I wish all everyone would calm down about this.

Lots of mixed results here

But clearly something is going on..

When I finish up with all my group buy tunes I will carefully look into all intake systems and see what's exactly going on.

Whatever is going on will be addressed - I promise you that.

By now there are over 100 cars running the Airaid intake system & we have yet to take a return. We are aware of a few reported issues and are working on a fix, but if you go back and read the reviews in the thread, there is an overwhelming positive response & the vast majority are not experience any problems.

We are not trying to discredit any user who may be experiencing a driveability issue and are more then willing to work with our customers. A blanket statement like "fix the product so it works off the shelf" is pretty unfair - especially when you have not tried the product out for yourself.

John, I will be installing this intake before I get you to flash my car, I figured this way you could get ECU readings from my car once it has learnt the new intakes parameters. Would this be helpful to you?

I have a bunch of people offering data - which is useful ... But I rather gather the data so the test can be more controlled

I really think the MAF air straightener will fix the issue.

I forgot to post a pic of my car (click for the larger version):

I plan on taking a better under-hood shot tomorrow after I clean the car up.
