I'm running a modified intake and a Visconti tune and having NO issues at all....other than a awkward fixed grin on my face...

The Visconti tune was created in the North East US (as far as I know) and was made to work with a completely stock car to maximize power gains across the rev range. The AIRAID intake was created and tested in the South West US and was made to work with the stock ECU/MAF to maximize airflow (to a point). The intake has the restriction of only being tested with the stock tune. There are too many variables (MAF placement, CFM at the MAF, intake tube diameter/length, ambient temp, air pressure, differences in gasoline) to say that without a doubt *ANY* intake that works with the stock tune will work with the Visconti tune. Im willing to bet that any intake which changes the flow the MAF sees will have problems with any generic tune that is not specifically designed to work with that intake. I have more thoughts to post on this that I will work out in my head and post tonight when Im out of work. |

this thread is turning ugly really quickly. we should all remember that we all share a common goal of helping out the community and helping each other.
clearly a few of us are having problems with their intakes including guts that are stock. let watch the tone and finger pointing and get back to trying to resolve any issues at hand. my intake just came i'm going to be picking her up soon so i will share my input then. can't we all just get along!

Those of you who are having issues. Have you tried to disconnect the battery again for a few minutes and giving it a go again? If it, indeed, is an issue with the ECU then maybe a hard reset (battery disconnect) will help?
On a side note. I never disconnected by battery before or after I installed my intake. IMO, the ECU will continuously learn given different variables so I left the battery connected. Mine runs fine. Well more than fine.

If the intake in question is designed for a stock car ( meaning the diameter where the MAF sits the same as stock ) then nothing will need to be changed in the ECU. Ideally installing a aftermarket intake that was designed for a stock car (stock diameter) will make the car breath better. This would result in more airflow - the ecu is already calibrated for more airflow than it can produce stock ( non-turbocharged). Basically nothing will need to be changed. Some aftermarket company's who sell intakes change the diameter of the intake to change the Air Fuel mixture - This normally will result in a HP increase... But from everything I'm reading this intake's maf sensor is placed in a pipe that has the same diameter as stock. My flash - I have beta testers , East Coast, West Coast, 91octane, 93 octane. I'm willing to bet I have more tuned BRZs then cars with this intake system installed. This isn't the point of all of this - no one is pointing fingers. We are just trying to figure out whats going on. I'm offering data that people with out a EcuTek cable can not provide. I think it's fair to say I have more data on this subject more than anyone in this thread. Not to mention I have someone with another aftermarket intake having the same problem. Both Tuned and Not Tuned. Most of the people aren't coming in here saying they're having a problem with my tune and this intake - they are saying they are having a problem with the intake. I think that it's a major turn off that you guys continue to delete posts and make it seem like we're hating on your product. -John |

On the other front - Airaid sent me a new intake tube due to the PCV fitting issue and it took less than 24 hours from when I sent them my address to when UPS had it at my door. This is even more impressive when you consider it came across the continent and had to clear customs (I'm in British Columbia)
I really greatly appreciate how fast it got to me. Thanks guys. |

On Topic, I think this is Airaid's first subaru air meter housing design. Thats not to say its not good, its just to say Subaru ECU's are very sensitive to MAF, more so than any other platform I have tuned.
And your car runs without any problems

I mentioned earlier that I wasn't going to say anthing about the bog until I had the proper fitting installed as there is the potential for my home depo solution (much like the pictured one earlier in the thread) to be leaking a tad and this could very easily be a vacuum leak issue created by that fitting not... fitting.
I will report back my findings right away. Just to be clear, do any of the 5 people reporting this issue also have the PCV fitting issue? |

Here is a picture of the Cobb velocity stack tube. Don't pay any mind to the bent vanes (it's from a problem thread I found on google). But it's setup exactly like stock. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/DSCF0629.jpg Last edited by 2forme; 08-24-2012 at 06:53 PM. |

Well I just installed my intake, had all the right parts, everything fit properly. Only thing I'm a little paranoid about is how close that MAF wire is to the belt, I tried moving the wire closer to the firewall like AIRAID said to do, didn't help much in my opinion, but everything looks ok after my drive. When I took the car out for a drive, probably about 10 miles, and I have had zero issues with it. I documented it all on video to show back-to-back before and after, throttle response is the same, me and my passenger both immediately noticed that the car felt faster and intake noise is a good bit louder.
I deliberately did low rpm, high gear, high load accelerations, no bogging at 1,500 rpm, car is running perfectly. This whole issue people are having is bizarre to me since it's not consistent. Couldn't be happier with the product. I'll edit and post my review video this evening after dinner.
