Yes, FR-S is just a rebadged BRZ with different interior, front bumper, and different suspension spring/shock rate setup... has Subaru stamped all over the place and that is the stock oil filter it comes with.

What's also weird is Toyota charges all Subaru's parts numbers...

Also, when I got the Oil filter from Subaru, they include a crush washer. Toyota didn't give me the washer..luckily I use a Fumoto valve anyway, lol

I went to a Subaru dealer as well. Filter and crush washer together cost me $9 and some change. Best part about the trip was one of the Subaru guys inside the part/service center (not the guy behind the parts counter) asking me who makes a BRZ. Guy was rude as hell to me when I walked in so I said "What the hell dealership am I standing in?". I wouldn't typically say anything but this guy was an asshat.

It is a bit disappointing when this happens, but it also means you get to shop between dealerships to find the best prices.

Same thing happened with the Matrix/Vibe and other collaborations with other manufacturers, etc.

Bought an extra set of rear shock mounts for coilovers on my BRZ - $93 at Subaru and $81 at Scion. Guess which one I went with?

Wow, looks like i'll have to do some comparative shopping when doing maintenance.

I have been registered for about 3 weeks now and have noticed a tendency of some members of this forum to NOT read every post on a thread and then act as if reading all threads would be difficult or time consuming. Isn't that what forums are for? Reading doesn't hurt, but waiting to share may take patience.

thats funny..same thing just happened to me i drove to toyota to get the filter they said they have to special order it and its 26 bucks. I wonder how these free oil changes are gonna go now.. guess i have to schedule ahead of time so they can order the parts when i go in for service. Drove to a subaru about 15 miles away and the filter was only 7.45 cents...now to figure out what oil to drop in

Toyota Place in Orange County CA, Toyota Oil Filter $7.50 tax is already included. I don't know why in WA is $17? Or any other Toyota Dealer in SoCal is the same price. Good luck!
