That's why I suggested the snorkel instead. looks like 2 - 10mm bolts hold it in place

Hah! Great minds think alike! I was thinking of doing this too for more of an open element sound level. Can someone try this really fast and see if it effects sound?

Lol nice. I'm almost certain it will be louder, I just wanna make sure I won't be making it any less efficient or safe by removing the lid.

Im just annoyed that I lost one of the tiny screws and washers that hold the top plate on
Don't feel too bad, I dropped one of the 3 screws that hold the filter to the air box. The other two hold it pretty good, so I'm not stressing it

Gentlemen –

We have been made aware of an issue that *Some* Intake tubes have too small of a hole for the supplied Barb fitting. Now this is clearly not all Intake tubes, as seen by all the great feedback and installed pictures on the forum. However if you are experiencing this issue with your Intake tube, please contact us direct for the resolution @ 1-800-498-6951.

I also wanted to address the situation where the MAF wiring harness is getting very close to the fan. I will have an updated set up instructions I will post that has the fix for that as well.

Remove the tape from the clip and move the clip 1.25” toward the firewall. The tape marks the original location of the clip.

Thanks,
David

Removing the snorkel is a PITA!!! Especially, if you're doing the install alone like I did. Pulling the plastic bumper isn't the difficult part. It's the peeling it back, getting a small ratchet in the small confines, removing the bolts and removing the snorkel ALL ALONE is the PITA! I suggest that you have a buddy to help. It will make your life and the install go much smoother.

I have been lurking on this thread for a while now and read through everything. This intake looks fantastic and I can't wait till I get my BRZ. I will probably purchase this intake before I even get the car. Can't wait for my car to come. Another 2-3 months until the car reaches the dealership. D: I'm so impatient.

Yeah I'll be doing the install alone, so I think I'm gonna hold off on removing the snorkel for now.

It wasn't that bad. There is a little groove in the bumper that hooks up with the top of the headlights, with just a little nudge you can pop it off and the front bumper becomes just flexible enough to get the snorkel out. I used to work on airplanes so I might be used to contorting my hands to get at bolts but it didn't seem that bad to me. I wouldn't do this on a cold day though!

I used a big ass zip tie, the thickness of the space was perfect for it and it's rated for 250 lbs on a powerpole and uv resistant.
