Anyone know the max GB USB drive the stock Pioneer head unit will read? I've heard and read that there's usually a max drive size the head unit can access...

I picked up a SanDisk 32GB for like $28 from Amazon.ca. It's awesome.

The only thing I don't like is the headunit doesn't use whatever organization you setup on the USB stick... It just lists all the folders that contain music.

I assumed there was an option for that. Probably outlined somewhere in the manual I haven't read...

I got one of these from Bestbuy last week for $8 for the 8gb. (sandisk) Works well. It has studdered once or twice but for the price I'm using it as re-writable CD for music I feel like listening to without dealing with playlists. That sale is over but newegg has them for the same, shipped.

When i plug it in my songs are just as i arranged them. Its a work around to creating a playlist. Not sure if i can do it on the cars head unit. I've only had my FR-S 3 days lol!!
I've been pretty much doing the same. I bought a slim sized (not miniature) USB flash drive. I paid $16 for a 32GB version. Works like a charm. One thing though. I found that the head unit doesn't recognize all forms of music files.

I don't think so - even if the data is the same, hardware isn't. The head unit sees a flash drive differently than an iPod. But your basic functionality is there.

Hmmmm.. I've had bad experiences with those micro USB sticks.. have had 2 totally die on me in the last 4 months... I dont think they are as robust as the normal ones..

btw the stock head unit reads files systems so as long as you organise your music on the stick, you can search by folder, then by song and the TEXT button lets you see folder names and song names

The manual for the Pioneer base audio head unit says it supports .mp3, .aac, and .wma audio files. No mention of .flac or .m4a.
