Wondering what version software you guys have. This bit on Ebay seems to imply many people are having issues with the the 1.040 software.

That's who I bought mine from. I did the upgrade anyway and haven't had a problem since. If there is a problem it's very easy to revert.

Mine just arrived today. Any suggestions or recommendations on installing it? Also wondering how yours doing.

BTW, I believe you are the one that got his car scratched up, did you ever get that fixed now that you have your backvue?

Have you thought about installing one for the rear window? The wiring would be a chore, but it would be nice to record out the back too.

So is the whole system contained in that cylinder? Like the camera itself is also the recorder and the place where you put the memory card?

I'd like to find something similar but with just the camera as a separate piece (so it is as small as possible), and then have it feeding the video to a unit that you can hide somewhere else in the car. That way even if somebody breaks into your car they can't just take the camera (and thus your video of them breaking into the car).

Maybe this thing does that and I'm just not paying attention... but to me it looks like something that people would break into my car to steal if the whole thing is right there on the window.

You're looking for an in-car DVR. They make them, but the lower priced systems have horrible picture quality.

Id like to get one Have you tried the parking mode on it and see if it works when the vehicle is turned off? Not sure if power is provided to the camera.

If it works, I'll get it for sure!

Installed mine today, the moving video works great. The power connects to the lighter. Here's the thing with parking mode, it needs a constant batery source, so when you turn off the car, the battery source shuts off. Therefore, you need to do a hardwire to the battery or fuse box. I'm told it's easy, but I am having my auto stereo person do it for me, for $40. (I just don't like to mess with these things) I will let you know in the next day or two how the parking mode works

I replied on your other thread. You can hardwire for power or get this:

I've got the camera installed in my other car, but I plan on installing it in the FR-S as well.

I've got it wired to the fuse box using one of those Add-a-circuits from Auto Zone. Parking mode looks great, but I dont have any clips since there was never anything worth keeping.

I wonder if you can wire it directly to the auto dimming mirrors. Then there's not long wires involved.

Also, hook up the camera to the navigation dash unit. Wonder if it will be able to display what the camera sees into the navigation unit.

IIRC the Blackvue has a video out, so if the navi has a video in, then I dont see why it wouldnt play.

Hmmm.. I wonder. XD. Imagine having two blackvues. One in front and one on the back of the car. Then have two splitters for the video in/out and you have yourself a backup camera too XD

So do you think this is worth $260? Its kinda steep but Im sure it will be worth it when you get into an accident thats not your fault. Plus I guess its kind of fun having a camera while driving. Especially at night XD

Ima order one.

So much money!
