I was a 6 year old in the 70's and my dad's only car was a 1972 TA22 Celica, which is much smaller than a FRS. And my sister and I were fine with that.... sitting in that back seat, or occasionally sitting up front when mom was nice for a short trip.

We all tend to overreact on your first kid wanting everything to be perfect, we did much the same selling our sports car for a 4 door honda civic when my wife got preggy. It does make getting the carrier in the back a little easier, but honestly it is not that big of a deal until they get a bit older. Just don't expect your wife to be able to get in and out of the FR-S when she gets into her 3rd trimester.

I can't imagine spending $8k for wheels, suspension, and a body kit. I have been catching preorder pricing and the wheels i'm getting are heavily discounted because they are discontinued.

![]() If you read he said it was a surprised. He bought the mods prior to knowing his wife was pregnant. Unplanned pregnancy FTL&W. Looks like the OP is going the parting out route. Hope he can keep his vehicle.

First of all, if you're that cash strapped that you can't afford to lease/finance/or even buy second-hand a cheap sedan, you shouldn't be dropping $8K on mods, baby or no baby. Maybe the OP should've spent the money on some contraception instead.

I have no dog in this fight. However, you're being a selfish bastard at the moment. In fact, most of the posters in regards to giving you the advice of getting a used ride for your family. You can't put a price or a selfish motive interfere with the gift of being a father. Look forward to making sure that your family is comfortable and healthy.
In my line of work, I see too many instances where people opt out for a beater and in an instant realize that they lost a family member. Safety of your precious gift should be your top priority. I'd suggest you look at crash ratings for your car. |

I have a 4 month old. No way can I or would I want to deal with putting a rear facing baby seat in the back of an FRS so I picked up a more practical IS350. I will pick up an used FRS as a second car when the price drops next year.

Well shit, that's a predicament. We were going to keep the 3dr Yaris when my wife got pregnant. That is, until we tried to fit the car seat in the back and realized it touched the front seats when them all the way forward. So we bought the Camry.
Congrats on the kid! If your experience is anything like mine, the next few years will go by ridiculously fast, and there will probably be times you want to tear your hair out and go crazy, but they're worth it. Mine is in the "terrible twos" right now and is trying to his fullest to ensure that he lives up to the reputation. ![]() I hate being rational and waiting, and saving, and making sure I don't have to make any compromises to buy the FR-S/BRZ... But time has seemed to go by way quicker ever since my son was brought into the world, so in reality it's not so bad. Anyway, if you can swing it just get something with four doors and practical. SUV, sedan, wagon, whatever. It just makes life easier while they're rear-facing. My advice for practicality? Sell everything you own and guy buy a Ferrari FF. Remember, you can live in your car, but you can't drive your house to work!

What about just selling off your aftermarket parts and buying another car for, say, $6000... I am sure you can get a good $6000 car that has a 5* safety rating that will last at least untill your kid turns 4.
