It's ballz. I agree.

After speaking to a few people it seems that my best bet is to just touch it up.

I ordered DrColorChip and I'm gonna buy the paint from the dealership too.

I just want it to be good enough to hide it

Most people say that sicne it's the bumper it's bound to take more damage...

I think a dash cam/side cam is a good investment for these cars. Have it stream to your computer at home so you can get those people and have them pay.

Any tips/advice? I showed it to a guy at a local body shop and he said he could fix it for me for 350$. Friends recommend just using touch-up paint since damage to the bumper is inevitable and to just fix it when there's a lot of damage.

Any advice?

& I'd say use touch up paint for now, since the bumper is plastic. Lucky there's no damage on the fender.

This is true, you could try to pursue legal action outside of the "traffic ticket" shit and just sue for negligent damages.

I think time and energy would be better directed at finding a touch up specialist.
If you take it to a body shop, much will depend on the skillset they have available. Some shops have skilled enough paint techs that can match color very well. It is an art in itself, beyond just being a good finisher.
There are techs that go to dealers and specialize in fixing that exact thing and hide it pretty well. Ask your local dealers who they use.
Around my area we have several companies that come to your location, or you can take it to their shop. That's all they specialize in. Scuffs, chips etc. Some are brilliant, and others are horrible. You just have to do some homework.

As for your question about color match, silver is probably the hardest to match. All light colors are difficult, especially now with the use of mica to provide that flop or iridescence, if you will. Here: http://www.ehow.com/facts_7210558_mi...ve-paint_.html

It takes a sharp eye and a ton of experience to build color and get it to match not only color, but pile. By pile, I mean how the color coat builds as it's sprayed. The mica particles reflect light and even if you get the color close, the flop, will show darker or lighter depending on viewing angle.

Good luck. I feel your pain...
