I was sponsored by cobb in Plano on my Evo and still talk to them. I inquired about sponsorship on brz and was told they would not pursue anything with the brz/frs

The big difference between NA and FI tunes is the bang for your buck power gains. This leads to the problem that not everyone will fork over the money when it doesn't seem like they are gaining the same as someone with a turboed car. Not everyone understands the differences of NA and FI and how the car will react from simply tuning it. So customer 1 might see the benefit of tuning his NA car for $800, where as customer 2 might not see the benefits because of the meagor gains.

I am in no way saying I don't want to tune my car. I'm just saying that not everyone will see it as a worthwhile investment. Going by this you have to look at the fact that Cobb will have to invest loads of money into cracking the ECU and then hope they can get all of that investment back. Its the same game ECUTek is playing, but seeing as they are the only company offering any real solution. They have a huge oppurtunity to get their investment back.
Considering how many hundereds of thousands of these cars they are planning on making I still don't get it. I would buy one for all nice user friendly monitoring utilities alone. The 10hp the stage 1 tune might give me is just an added bonus. Also, the ability to install/uninstall the flash easily on your own makes it totally worth the $500-$600 I assume they would try to get from it.... price should be less than that of an STI/WRX solution. Their MS3 was significantly cheaper if I recall.

Hopefully in a few months, the Cobb Acessport will be available for the FR-S/BRZ.

Aside from monitoring and a small bump in hp (like the other tunes), one thing that would be more attractive to me to go with cobb (provided they do anything for this car) opposed to others, is the anti theft tune. Seems like it could be useful. My car gets eyed left and right, and I do a lot of traveling. Knowing it couldn't physically be driven away would put my mind at ease some.

Not to pursue anything. They are selling parts that already fit on other cars like the shift knobs and exhaust mounts.

At this point, they have lost and are losing a lot of customers to the higher priced ecutek. If they did at this point decide to start working on a tuner, by the time they had it out ecutek will be even more proven and with better options to help justify the higher price, I see the same thing happening with the greddy turbo kit tho too.

Silly cobb could have had an easy 30-50 customers already under their belt, now they may get the scraps down the road if they are lucky.
