or maybe its just because the brz is so much smaller. fwd is lighter than rwd

18'' wheels
Sunroof
Bigger body
Steel hood

If they was the same size and the options was base then it would be closer.

Why the hell do people make such a damn big deal on the prius tires?

You'd LEAVE the car because of the stock tires? Jeez.

The reasons why I didn't buy a Civic this time around, is 1. I've owned 2 already (2000, 2002), 2. I think it needs a bit more power, 3. It's a Civic; I wanted something a bit more adult.

Ironically the BRZ, despite being a bit more impractical and driver focused, seems more adult to me.

It's funny how defensive you guys get when a car like the Civic "competes," don't be, because it doesn't. You buy the BRZ/FRS partly for the feeling and that's something the Civic will never have, or in my case regain.
But... BUT IT'S GOT VTAK!

Anyone notice how much the Civic leans into the curves vs the BRZ at higher speeds ?

As far as I'm concerned the only car her that deserves a bow is the one that's not giving one in the curves

On the BRZ or Civic ? If your referring to the BRZ, my comment was meant as a compliment to the BRZ which already has not so great of tires

i was just referring to the amount of lean evident in both cars. the more tire you have, the more the car will lean

Ahh, yeah I just felt there was less bodyroll from the BRZ than the civic in the curves, at least from what I could see from the video

Every track test is meaningless unless the most important thing on the cars is equal. As long as the cars have different tires.... overall lap time tests are a waste of time.

Put the Piloti Sports on the BRZ, retest. Also I hate seeing FWD drive cars on road courses with what is a factory suspension. The reason is that all OEM suspension setups on FWD cars are designed for safety which = Massive Understeer. Transversely, with most RWD setups, even those that are understeery like the BRZ, can still utilize the throttle to overcome it. So take the Civic and stiffen the rear, adjust the front toe and retest.

I understand the need to test "stock for stock" but the OEM's often make REALLY stupid decisions about street-going cars; AKA: understeery-setups for safety, Prius tires on a sports car etc etc etc. So these tests don't really compare the "platform" all that well.

i know. im saying that it is largely due to the civic having stickier tires. well that and overall design...but largely the tires

thats a totally arbitrary mindset. i could just as easily say that track tests are meaningless unless power is the same or weight is the same. throwing in those tires at that price is an advantage for the civic, plain and simple. the only thing that i think should be used to level the playing field is dollars.

Is it just me or did they completely leave out the fact that the BRZ has an LSD as well? They make such a big deal of it in the Si, like it's some huge advantage that it has over the BRZ.

I personally think the Stock tires are a plus since it does have LESS grip,
so its easier to SLIDE around a corner compare to super sticky tires which
will improve lap times but make me possibly smile a bit less.
