Again I'm not saying your wrong, but conventional wisdom does. So I'd like to see these test you speak of, since I can't seem to find any of them on this forum.

Conversations with the engineers at Injen, along with comments by Don @ AP when testing both his cold air and SRI intakes. (e.g. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...old#post248570)

That, coupled with the fact that every intake on the market is a variation of a SRI (so far) is pretty indicative.

Thanks, I must have missed Don posting that info I'll read back through it.

As far as the intakes being SRI, i see them being more of a ram air intake. They are utilizing an effective factory system (the intake piping into the bumper)

Rereading my post, it sounded kind of ****ish. If it came off that way my bad, I have a bad habit of doing that unintentionally

SRT -

I definitely like this different approach. It actually looks really cool and extremely well made as well as 'industrial' in appearance. Clean welds. Very nice.

I am curious as to how it sounds as well as non-tune HP gains.

Props to you guys for innovation!

It looks like the ECU of this car uses an MAF to meter incoming air. On systems like these, mods that increase airflow (intake, exhaust) should be automatically compensated for.

Of course, the stock tuning is conservative. It will do better with a tune, but visconti's standard tune should take into account mods of this nature without requiring additional logging/tuning.

The one pitfall is that in order to keep the MAF signal to the ECU correct, the diameter of the tubing where the MAF sits must be maintained. If it's sitting in a larger-diameter tube, the MAF will report less airflow to the ecu than is actually flowing. If that's the case, either a tune specific to the intake needs to be flashed or the MAF signal needs to be modified.

Systems like those on Hondas rely on MAP sensors and throttle position to calculate airflow. These systems will not compensate for devices that change the volumetric efficiency of the engine and will need to be tuned for best results.

We are trying to finish up the heat shield for the filter at the moment and will try to get the car on the dyno by weeks end.

I don't know if this has been answered or not, but if we get this all parts of yours will you be able to give us a map to slap on this piggy-back?

Like some SRT specific tune for intake and full exhaust?

Beautiful -- but why maintain the 90* bend? Why not just straight into the horn with a nice filter and the air box you've fabbed? Then you could duct air from the side (or possibly even the front) as usual. No room?

Make something like this for the 370Z please!
