Unleashed is 100% right. If I recall correctly, they may have indicated they won't even support the FR-S/BRZ at all.

The RaceROM launch control and other features are going to be a free update for the Visconti/Ecutek package so it's not like you have to pay extra for it as far as I understand, just a cool feature.

Thanks and you are 100% right as well. EcuTek has really grabbed a hold of the FR-S/BRZ and John is doing amazing work.

not many blown engines lately with the mzr disi. there were a lot in the early days due to lack of tune with lots of mods. the ap is the way to go with that motor.

Use it to spool the turbo before launch
Consistent drag launches. And it hints at a boost-by-gear function, of sorts. Limit throttle opening for lower gears for better traction. keeps the revs from getting away from you.

I'm guessing there is a ton of stuff we'll be able to do with the factory computer.

I thought turbos couldn't make boost untill under load? When I use launch control on my cobalt it just takes me out of vacuum and hold it at 0 psi.

The difference, versus just holding the revs using the throttle, is with launch control you are at WOT.

You can build boost by loading the engine with the timing tables in the tune. Retarded timing and extra fuel can spool lots of boost. 1 bar isn't uncommon when tuned for anti-lag.

Surprised no one has complained yet about bouncing off the rev limiter.

Exactly, i had launch control on my 05 legacy gt and i would build about 12.5 psi. Improved my 0-60 times dramatically...plus it sounded dope

You're right - almost. Anti lag works by cheating a little. It retards the ignition timing to like 20 deg after top dead centre so that you get combustion in the exhaust port and manifold. By doing this less of the combustion energy is used by the engine, and instead it spins the turbine. This is known to be hard on manifolds (hope it's cast!) as well as turbines (Hard on the bearings).
