Way back when the "crickets" issue first popped up, I commented that one of the cars at that event had this pretty bad... In video #3 (slalom) it can clearly be heard over the guy speaking at :09-:13. I should have asked the multitude of reps/execs there what they thought of that. Hindsight is 20/20.

In video #3, (as in the third one down from the top). The slalom portion, as I stated above. Ok maybe :09 - :12, not :13.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

They must have provided a list of acceptable comments to make about the car to all the participants ahead of time.

No, I am suggesting that it was very easy to edit the comments so that only positive comments were shown. I am NOT saying the people driving the car weren't having fun. I am saying this was not a balanced review, it was a marketing event.

Wow, I didn't realize the 'cricket' noise was that loud. Is it from the HVAC system?

The Shannonville track is awesome. I did a race school there this year and I'd love to drive around it in the FR-S (it would be way more fun than my Accent).

Nah, but they had us on camera giving positives of each car and which one we preferred; natch, clip the ones that are positive about the car.

Lina is her name, met her and another guy when Scion had us at the Toronto Autoshow to show us the FR-S. We walked around the whole Autoshow together, and have remained quite close since then. Go Scion!

What she was saying and I'll echo it because you really feel it when you switch between the two cars, is that while in the FR-S you feel like you're almost glued to your seat, in the GC your body moves around quite a bit, especially during the slalom. It's that body movement that you have to compensate for. Completely agree with her and when you're going between the FR-S and the GC back-to-back you can really feel the difference; also, the huge difference in weight and how nimble the FR-S is compared to the GC.

They also "coached" us a bit on what to say (or more precisely HOW to say it), presumably to make editing easier.

I'll second (or is it third) your feelings on the GC seats, and add that the whole car felt lardy and sloppy compared to the FR-S. I didn't care at all for the sound (wooosh) coming from the back of the GC, either. I know it has a turbo, but that is no excuse for sounding like the business end of a shop vac. Lots of turbo cars sound good.

The seats in the GTI, on the other hand, were my favorite ones there, and it sounded sooo much better than the GC. There was a nice little pop when pulling a shift, or getting off the gas.

Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up.
