I am ok with 'quicker' so long as the response is proportionate to the position of your foot.... Let me explain: We need it to be drivable at the limit. If one were to make the response non-linear and exaggerate the rate of throttle opening at any point of the pedal travel we will loose the ability to modulate effectively enough and the car is not as drivable at the limit.

The reason I bring this up is that many automanufactures have exagerated the the throttle opening in the first portion of the pedal travel to make the cars 'feel snappy' when customers take them out for test drives. I can see where the aftermarket guys may be motivated to do the same. The end result is a car that is less drivable since it is very difficult to request a little addtional throttle when needed at the limit.

BTW, love the AccessPort on my WRX, great product.

Agreed, give me linear throttle control.

lol @ people saying you can tune out the "deadspot", that's a volumetric efficiency gap, no tuning will erase that. If you've read the other threads it seems like quite a bit of power can be picked up near the top by leaning things out (catalyst temperature will go quite high, but oh well), since the motor runs 10.9:1 or something stupid rich.

Ill second that, but... Do you want linear power increase through the pedal travel, or linear throttle opening?

Linear throttle opening. I want the butterfly valve to be an extension of my foot.

I do want linear power delivery but you know what they say: wish in one hand...

The stock power curve isn't so bad though. An extra 300 rpm up top should give plenty of cushion to keep you away from the dip when you are pushing it on the track. Between the dip and redline the power delivery is excellent. The dip is like a hard deck that just forces you to know exactly what gear you want to be in and to time your shifts correctly.
The real problem comes when you are messing around on the street and you want to get up and go but don't take it to redline. After you shift you end up leaning forward waiting for the power to kick back in, but then you look like a dork leaning forward waiting for a VTEC kick
But really... if you take it to redline in 2nd you are damn near 60 mph and damn near the legal speed limit in most places.
Who needs all that power on the street anyway? :P

I was with you right up to the last question. You are 100%correct though. I hate trying to play a little on the street and then I run into that wall. I didn't think it would bug as much as it does.

What? The throttle or the power?

I think the throttle is ok. It's definitely less direct than my Miata, but the Miata has a cable throttle. The 86 throttle feels like it has a bit of a dead zone at first, so what I've been doing to get smooth rev matches is to floor it real quick. My earlier post about linear throttle behavior was just a general opinion. I have no idea what the throttle curve looks like for the 86.

Well seeing as they had a BRZ in their office as early as April I'm sure they have some things coming down the pipe. Did you guys see this thing?
