For your second comment, I have to disagree. While the "FR-S" trim is a "Scion" thing, at the end of the day it's a Toyota/Subaru with options custom picked from the 86 designated as the FR-S for USDM. This is not a case where the JDM/EDM version of the car are drastically different performance-wise, they're identical there. I've seen tons of people rebadge Acuras (namely Integras, RSX, and NSX) with JDM Honda badges because simply "Acura" does not exist. I would not consider them "posers". There's nothing wrong with manufacturer pride and I plan to rebadge my FR-S as Toyota and already removed the 'FR-S' badge. Yes, I will replace the wheel caps and key plastic too. Eventually I'll get the floor/trunk mats as Toyota and yes, I don't care about the steering wheel for a while. Let's be real here though: the twins would have never existed without Toyota. Subaru would have never created this type of car. A naturally-aspirated RWD sports car from... Subaru? Toyota's chief engineer, Tada-san, had to do a lot of convincing to even get a test car built. After it ran well, the Subaru guys got interested. That being said, Subaru did help with parts and fabrication. I honestly think that Toyota would have attempted to make the car either way, with or without Subaru's help. That being said, Subaru's help is definitely appreciated as I think we can all agree it's a wonderful car because of their partnership. The point I am making here is I am tired of people calling it a "Subaru" as if Toyota just stamped their name on it and did zero R&D, engineering, and testing.

I find it hard to believe that many people just "nodded" and had 0 input. Lets also not forget that toyota owns more of FHI than any other shareholder and that makes them the majority owner. They also put up the majority of the money for the project. I think it's safe to say the cars belong to both companies and the gt-86 is a toyota, the FR-S is a Scion, and the BRZ is a subaru. That's why branding exists. If you want closer comparisons everything in trader joes is from another manufacturer, but is branded trader joes. |

I agree the car was definitely not designed as a drag car, it's all about momentum and keeping it.
However, I will also add that I have been quite delighted with the stock performance of the car in a straight line. I actually expected it to do worse than it does! May be one of the advantages in the manual!

I've had my car for only 4 days and people have been trying to race me all the time.
They try to bait me into a race. It just makes me laugh. |

I've had probably nearly a dozen people try to race me since I got my car back in early June. Most of the time it was whatever, but I do recall one specific incidence where a riced out old civic wanted to race me. As soon as the light turned green, he was off, and 4 seconds later, he nearly rear ended someone that didn't expect anyone going that fast after a traffic light. While he was slowed by that car, I passed him. lol.

I was speeding more than usual today and a Toyota Venza, of all cars, took that as cue that I am racing him. I eventually slowed down and stayed in the far right lane so they could leave me alone. Then, the Venza slowed down and stayed in the same lane as well ahead of me, with a commercial truck in between us. As I am casually changing lanes to pass the truck and got near the Venza, he sped up again and was gone. Finally, he is out of sight and I can drive in peace. Apparently he was observing my position on the road and waiting for me. Those Venzas sure are fast.

Well finally had my encounters today while taking my son to school. On the way there I had a semi-riced out ford focus hatchback flooring it at a stoplight, then on the way home I had a guy in a 350z convertible flooring it at the same stop light. Smh. He reminded me of the "TOP DOwN TOP DOWN" guy.
