I think just get that chip touched up, over the years my Euro's got some rock chips on the bonnet - none on the bumper strangely enough!

I think this is because when the stones fly up from the vehicles in front of you they fly up and hit the bonnet first.

I can remember my 350Z six years ago also has the same issue bonnet's got some tiny rock chips.

Best thing to do is avoid crappy roads and don't go too close to other vehicles.

Yeah, chalked up a couple of "tattoos" on the front bumper on the weekend thanks to an ML63 AMG who crawled around corners on the way back from a wiseman's ferry run on the weekend. The width of that vehicle's tyres means every possible stone is found and spat at you. BTW, it's not a trip I'd particularly recommend -- the south side has roadworks and traffic and the north side is mostly incredibly yawn worthy at the posted limit.

I wasn't going to bother getting them touched up. Any thoughts on how much if I do?

No idea since I didn't bother getting mine touched up - over 3 odd years I have about 2 or so chips - tiny ones you can't even see it unless go up close.

Best bet probably find a good mobile paint touch up service ... any members here care to make a recommendation?

Looks like a more saturated orange than the 86 lava orange... I highly doubt it would be the same colour but hard to tell from a pic of course

No I don't think its the same - the orange xv looks like a solid colour whereas the 86 orange is metallic.

Hey Guys,

I wasnt trying to say it would prevent chips sorry guys If I wasnt clear. It will however help due to having a tougher composition to standard paints.

In this case is just a un preventable chip unfortunatly.

anyone drove their 86 down the Hume Hwy (between Bankstown and Cabramatta), how did the car coop with absorbing the bumpiness of the road?

You're talking about a different road. When I said "south side" I meant Old Northern Rd and when I said "north side" I meant Wiseman's Ferry Rd. Putty Road is an altogether different animal that I haven't done for a while and is on my list for coming back from a Hunter trip (via Wollombi/Peats Ridge, of course). Although I believe it's more fun in the other direction, going South->North. Most roads in NSW are very boring at the posted limit, though. This is more than apparent after coming back from Tassie.
