SC will be revived but it's gunna be on Lexus's own terms. Only reason why ft-86 chassis would get streteched would be for IS, which is usually based on the GS. BUT at the same time if you think about it the IS is carving out it's own name - i mean it is considering the japanease 3 series and IS-F the M3, Lexus may decide to make IS it's own entity with some similar elements from GS
Given the reminder above, that this is a modded Legacy/Impreza chassis, that would imply that the next IS would be sharing its chassis with the new Legacy. So that doesn't really make too much sense. Throw a 2GR in a Legacy, re-style it, and call it a Lexus?

As for saying that the IS is 'usually' based on the GS that is kind of a silly statement as they're only on the second generation and the first was based on the Altezza not the Aristo, so it's like 50%. (I'm taking a gamble on not researching how related those two are before posting... but I do know both have similarities to the Supra.)

I do feel they should separate it from the GS, to allow it to be smaller, lighter and sportier.

As for the main point of this thread, how about we let them finish the Toyota/Scion version first?

Does anybody know what the LF-C is all about? Could it possibly be the SC successor?

Not even the new Legacy, it's the 2003-2009 model.

We replaced a ls400 with an ls460, and it was a huge disappointment, though the is250awd was ok. I think Lexus needs to up their innovation if they want to keep a loyal base.
The LS460 is a disappointment, but the IS250 was ok? Rrrriiigggghhhht

Ever been in the back of an IS?

I think it might have previewed the IS, but at this stage I can't remember. I have always loved the trick roof though, and it really ought to make production someday. It'd be criminal to leave that in the concept realm.

Nope. Assuming you're implying it's small and cramped. But it's supposed to be the sporty Lexus. They have the closely priced ES for those that want the Lexus luxury/badge with the marshmallow comfort and space.

No point for them to make it bigger. This is the trap that manufacturer make for themselves. They seem to make next generation of car for the current gen owners new needs. What they should be doing is more closely designing the whole lineup together (not necessarily all at once) so that there is a 'purchase path' or 'ladder' for their customers. Example IS owners should become GS owners, ES owners should become LS owners. Not make the IS more and more GS-like with new gens to keep the customers.

3000+lbs Civic Si coupe is a horrible example of this.

I think you have already seen the production version of LF-C. It's called IS C. LF-C is the concept car of the current IS.

Funny how people say the back of an IS is cramped, I am 6' and I found the back of an IS to be a pretty pleasant place! lol but maybe that's because I've almost never sat in a "luxury" car.

What? you're not serious. Unless midgets sit in the front seats, you(6feet) will fit at the back comfortably. My IS250 always gives punishment to my 5ft10"+ tall friends who sit at the back.

No I'm dead serious! Sat in my piano teacher's IS250, in the back. Was much more comfortable than sitting in the front of my mom's Honda Pilot (which, btw, has like 4 inches of room to spare over my head roflmao)

IF Lexus were to make a car based on the FR-S, then it essentially would be more of a 2 door G37 competitor. Unfortunately the IS is already the main competition so it doesn't make sense.

But, if there was a Lexus FR-S, there's no way it stays lightweight. The lightweight stuff would be left for the Scion division and it would be easy to add 400lbs. of luxuries (power seats, seat heaters, seat coolers, upgraded dash, upgraded trim, etc.).

Then it essentially would be a great GT car, but not a truly great sports car.

They can use interior material made from bamboo like in CT200h. It's light weight and eco-friendly.

And still add 350lbs. then.

I think of the Nissan line and how they did it. The 350z is already a heavy car, so getting a G37 and adding a few hundred pounds more doesn't really change the overall performance too much.

But, when you take a lightweight sports car and then try to make it luxurious, it's an entirely different car. It's like getting a Lotus Elise, wanting luxury, and ending up with an Evora. What happened with the Lotus Europa? They wanted to keep it lightweight and still add some luxury to it, it failed horribly with the compromises.

If it's under a Lexus badge that also means a Toyota/Yamaha engine, ie V6 at the least.
