Anyone having this issue?

This is different from the chirpping issue during idle and I didn't see anyone else post about this so here goes...

It seems that the FA20 is quite cold blooded. Seems to take longer than other cars I've owned to get to normal operating temps. One other thing I've noticed is that when the motor is cold and I come to a stop, not a hard stop mind you, the idle fluctuates a bit and the motor looses revs like it's about to die, but never does and it's very slight. Anyone else notice this on their car? BTW, I don't seem to have the chirpping issue at idle thought.

The idle dip has been documented by many owners and there are multiple threads on it. I haven't seen it dip any more than other cars I've owned, but others have actually seen the car stall.

As for the coolant temp, I've noticed that my car seems to come up to temp really quickly, and underhood temps seem high to me. Odd. I know my thermostat is working, but I wonder if yours is stuck open...

I can only recall my engine RPM dropping to almost a stall without the AC on once. Any other time the AC was on.

And the engine warms up quite quick for me too. From sitting for ~8 hours till the gauge moving only takes a minute or so.

I haven't read too much about motor issues with the FA20, but I didn't know that other people have experienced this issue. It's very slight, but you can definitely feel it. Strange thing is it seems to stop once the motor warms up.

I've noticed this. I thought my car was going to die one morning at a Dunkin Donuts drive through. This doesn't always seem to happen and my car has never died. I wonder if this will be a big issue in the winter?

Hahaha ok then you don't count since you've got mods. I'm referring to stock. The engine either seems starved for fuel/air/etc for a quick second and the revs die. Then back to normal like it never happened. One thing though, for me, it always happens when the motor is cold and I'm on the brakes. Otherwise, it doesn't happen even if the motor is cold.

Comming out of my garage (slight bump) in the morning it does that as well, but I let the car warm up till the rpms start dopping to ~1k and start moving. Other than that I haven't seen it drop.

I would have the dealer check for a stuck thermostat that maybe not closing correctly during warm up. My BRZ warms up very quickly although the transmission (MT), needs to warm up as well. When cold, i need to be real careful on 1 - 2 shifts. Linkage feels very stiff. Others have mentioned this before attributing the design. Not a big deal, but definitely there. Oh, and I have the chirping at idle too.

I've had the idle dip issue and actually had it fixed by Subaru - read some of my earliest posts. It hasn't given me a problem in a month or two.
