1) Drank a beer
2) wash car with foam gun
3) drink a beer
4) wash car via 2bm
5) dry the car
6)drink a beer

7) By hand - Polish the stain and sorrounding area with Meguiars M105 diamont cut polishing compound and a Meguiars woold pad. ( I was a bit afraid of leaving swirl marks and fine scratches). Don't be afraid to put some elbow grease on the pad.
8) Optional - I repeated step 6, but this time using a 6" Griot polishing pad and M105
9) Using Griots polishing pad and Meguiars show room glaze #7, polish the shit out of that bird shit.
10) Use Griot waxing pad and meguiars Hi-tech yellow wax #26, wax that shit!
11) wipe off wax

Afte Step 11 , the stain was gone and I was a happy man. ( no swirl marks or scratches and shinny ass hood)...I followed it with another beer.

Good luck to you, I am sure someone else may have a different opinion, idea, and what not... BUT this is what worked for me, AND I am no expert at polishing. I just wanted to share what I did.

You know, if you just do steps 1, 3, 6 - then repeat X3, you might not care about it for another day.

Crap. I've killed so many bugs the first night I drove the car, and its been sitting there since then. Should I wash it off before it becomes permanent damage? Or will it become permanent?

I wouldn't compound and polish just for a poop stain. You're just going to remove clear coat, and the stain may be deep. Wait for the swirls (if you get swirls from washing and drying) and other random scratches to add up and then tackle it then.

This explains a bit:

Pigeon droppings contain ammonia and acids, said chemist Neal Langerman, an officer with the health and safety division of the American Chemical Society. If the dung isn’t washed away, it dries out and turns into a concentrated salt. When water gets in and combines with the salt and ammonia, it creates small electrochemical reactions that rust the steel underneath.

So it seems like part of the reason why a Minneapolis bridge collapsed was due to bird droppings.

Dude, wash the car and get the bugs off. Bug guts will etch your clear like birdshit will. I've seen etching in clear when birdcrap was on the car for less than an hour.

To the OP, try a light polish first to see if that removes the etching. Move to a more aggressive polish only if you have to and then go over it with a lighter polish to bring the gloss back and remove any polishing marks left by the more aggressive polish. Wax or seal after.

I have the same problem with a bird crap that happened yesterday. Weird thing is that i have NEVER seen this happen on the past on any other car I owned. You can't control birds and can't always get it off when it's still fresh and not dry. My car got paint protection applied by the dealer and this still happened. I don't want to have to deal with this every time there is a crap on my car. WTF???

I wonder if OptiCoat would provide much additional protection from bird poo and bugs?

I find it difficult to believe that a bird poop would cause a permanent stain so quickly. Birds must be eating a lot of berries.
