This debate and related threads are too funny. The car already has more Toyota badging on it than Scion. Count the toyota logos, then count the scion logos. Add the two and divide. I think you have less than 1% scion badges by the time you count the thousands of small "t's" on the car. Honestly the car has what? 7 scion badges and 3 FRS badges? So 10 Scion badges total?

I'd be super happy about it actually. That way when people ask me what car it is, I can say it's a Toyota 86 without looking like a ricer idiot - because right now I'd just look like a fool since everyone else knows it's a Scion. lol

I also agree that this car would not fit in with the US's current Toyota line up at all. It sticks out as much as someone wearing an orange suit to a funeral... Corolla, sienna, camry, matrix, sporty rwd coupe that's advertised as good for drifting and driving. Also, how many of you that own an is300 honestly say you drive a Toyota altezza? (using that example since it's probably the most common). Get over the branding and look at the car for what it is. So what if it's a Scion. The Subaru is the same exact thing. |

That would be like a Toyota BB. Doubt it would ever happen but I wouldn't give a flying duck if it did. I think it would be pretty cool.

It's a car. If you're buying it for image and not for what it is, you're buying it for the wrong reasons.

The GT86 badge is the easy one, but the Small T's all over the car are Toyota T's. I want to say it is roughly based off of these:
They are on the dash panel, grill, gauges, sun visors, etc. I am still happy my instrument cluster does not say scion on it and does not have scion programmed into the start up etc. To be honest though, I used to care a lot more that the car said scion instead of Toyota, but I really don't care all that much anymore. Turning a Pontiac GTO back to a Holden Monaro was necessary, but this isn't that big of a deal. |

the FRS has 7 manufacturer specific Scion Badges. The TOYOTA logo is also on the engine if we are going nit pick it. ![]() Quote:
BUT like I said, I really don't care about the scion badging anymore. |

Take this for what it's worth, but my dealerships GM and owner were at a dealer meeting in FL I believe sometime around March or April. It was discussed at the meeting about bringing the Toyota version to the US in 2015 depending on the success of the FR-S.
I, for one, would think it would be a good move. How many people on here want different options that you can't get on the FR-S, but are available on the 86? I think there are a lot. This is part of the reason why I leased mine and didn't finance it. My lease will be up in June of 2015 and I am keeping all the original parts for my car as I do mods. I will be able to swap the parts or if I can't, I'll sell them. I may even buy my lease out. Who knows? I have 3 years to figure it out. Look at it this way, if you want the cheapest model, you get the Scion. If you want HIDs, leather, etc, you get the Toyota version. People like choices. The Toyota version would be the little brother to whatever Toyota & BMW have brewing, which is highly rumored to be some type of Supra replacement. Next time our Toyota dealer rep is in I'll see if I can pry some info from him. Ruskymx |

Are people really that bent out of shape that this is a Scion and not a Toyota? I can't tell what the big deal is. Is it so when someone asks what kind of car you drive, you can say Toyota instead of Scion? Because honestly neither badge is going to impress anyone. And even if it did, who cares what other people think. I'd proudly drive a Kia if they offered a sports car that excited me.
