How mad would you be?

considering that most everyone is upset that the FR-S came to the U.S. as a Scion and not a Toyota; and most everyone is going to swap out their Scion emblems for Toyota. How mad would you be if Toyota realizes their error and decides to bring next years model as a toyota 86?

I dunno about you and i understand it's still going to be the same car, but i'd be pretty damn pissed.:mad0259:

If Toyota did that, the Scion models would become instant collector items just like for example misprinted money. I'm all for it. :)

encity5 08-08-2012 09:01 AM

not that mad.

n2oinferno 08-08-2012 09:02 AM

Not at all, assuming I bought the Scion, that is. It's just a badge. If people get that up in arms over it, I'd hate to see them when a real crisis hits. At the end of the day I care far more about the car than the badge it wears.

People who are overly bent out of shape about this car being sold as a Scion really need to find something more meaningful to be concerned about...no wonder Scion has the reputation it does...and this reputation is purely because of the owners, not the cars...I've never seen a group of people so worried about what other people think...:iono:

I think at the end of the day its the same bloody car just re badged .

I couldn't care less to be honest...

I mean let's be real here, either way it's still a Subaru.

MVJ1975 08-08-2012 09:22 AM

I wouldn't care. Of course, I drove a Scion before this, too.

I have no hate for the Scion brand. In the end, it's still just Toyota.

ETA: Bring it on. I already have the original "error manual" and the "error Scion Boost packet", let's make it even more collectible.

OP states that "most" people are swapping badges. Really?

YukiHachiRoku 08-08-2012 10:11 AM

you guys really can't really get over your identity crisis's? get over it...

at the end of the day, in the eyes of the American society, you drive a Scion. Deal with it.

Chewie4299 08-08-2012 10:20 AM

I'm part of American society. I've never owned a Scion before this. To me it, and all Scions, are just Toyotas with a different marketing department behind them. There is no other deeper meaning.

But it's manufactured by Subaru...so I would think, if anything, a switch to Subaru badges would be the most appropriate. But then again, a Subaru wasn't the star of that anime show...

how real of a possiblity do you think this is?

i mean it kind of makes sense. release the first model year under scion to drum up all this excitment with the review coverage and hype and get everyone looking at scion again. then move it over to toyota.

think it could happen?

I don't see why they would ever do that. Toyota = beige Mommy grocery getter, not rwd Sport coupe...this car is everything Toyota isn't...
