Im not 100% sure, but I think they only made 5000 a year. The s2k started out as a low production car, it was never ment to last 10 years. Honda it blaming the economy for all their cut backs, which is fine, but they were well into r and d on the NSX and instead of finishing it they canned it. So it thats the case, give it 2-5 years and more people will be getting back to the enthusiast market again, hopefully.

There is that new CR-X, the CR-Z, coming out... that looks like it might be kind of cool.

Tastefully mod it and make it individual to you. That's why aftermarket has been successful. It's about making a car only you have. Who cares if a bazillion people buy it, just means cheaper and more plentiful parts!

what are your guys' thoughts??
I just wanna say, I feel ya. Everyone raises good points (about popularity and ce la vie), but/and it still sucks that many others have shit for taste (not simply bad taste; shit for taste).

i couldn't possibly see toyota put in this kind of dev to dump it so soon? this has atleast 3 years of sales, at the absolute least. if it stops selling-- hopefully I bought one in time, hah. once the car is past warranty, the dealership will be a distant thought in my mind; especially with the toyota subaru mashup of parts-- my hope is that it will be easier to service b/c of that.

aside from that, no I don't want any idiots driving this car-- but hey, there's no way around that...and I could care less about sales once I own mine

The wrong people will get this car only if it comes in automatic. If they make an auto they should have two distinct trim levels: on for auto and one for the real sports car.

Good call, just like the WRX. One for boys (WRX) and one for girls (GT) .

Keep all trim level a 6spd and it'll get rid of your teenage girls and rice rocket boys from buying one.. although Toyota will sure love all these potential buyers :]

Im sorry i could see no advantage at all to trying to limit sales on a car... especially in today's economy. If we wanna snob it out and sell only 5000 a year, you bet this thing is going to an early grave. we gotta make sure that this thing sells, there will be more improvements from MY to MY, and it will show the auto market that there is demand for this kind of vehicle.

trust me, having a "non mainstream" car isnt as cool as you think when parts are more expensive than regular cars and mods take FOREVER to come out.. not worth it, rather see another riced out FT86 than to pay for that.. lol
