Coating for fake carbon fiber dash pieces?
As has been mentioned in previous postings, the fake carbon fiber dash pieces scratch extremely easily. Now that there is a thread showing how easy it is to remove these pieces, I was thinking that spraying some sort of clear coat on these pieces might help keep them looking pristine for a longer period of time.
Anyone have any ideas as to what kind of coating would work best without dissolving the plastic pieces or getting all foggy looking, etc.? |

I don't think Toyota intended for it to be a carbon fiber look. I think it just so happens to be the little T's in the color of carbon fiber. Because for it to be fake carbon fiber you would need to see fake weave.

When I was using the 303 Protectant I went over it with that and it took to it really well.

I did speak to them about prices but it all depends on what you want done they said the minimum was around $65 I think and can range between $300-500 depending on what type of finish you want. I am going to send them pictures of the parts so I can get a better quote.

Well, if you take it off and look closely on the corner edges, the OEM trim is actually just "Carbon Fiber..ish, T" sticker wrapped. That explains why it scratches so easily... Not sure if you can peel it off and look nice though cause its cut very close to the edge and there's no room to practice..
![]() I'll just opti- coat 2.0 and be done with it since I have a lot left after doing the car. |
