My dads a finance manager at a dealership and pretty much told me I'll be paying about $570+$400 for insurance...$970! There's no way I'm hoping people are getting this cheaper! And if it's true I guess I'll have to wait a while (((((((
I have good credit + I'll be putting about 3k down + and trading my 09 tC which I owe about 4K and I have equity of $2000
:th umbdown:
Wait, $400 for insurance? Each month?

Try to sell your tC rather than trade it in. Just figure with $5K total down on an FR-S bought for MSRP+tax, you'll probably be around $400 monthly on a 60 month loan, +/- some dollars depending on your interest rate.

Paid MSRP for the BRZ Limited (no options). 6.25% tax + around $300 in TTL.

Fellow member of the cash club, signing in. I paid ~$30,000 OTD all said and done, less my trade-in.

Paid cash as well, but they wouldn't give me crap for my trade-in. Luckily I had just gotten a Carmax estimate and the dealer was nice enough to drive my old car down to Carmax for me to sell. Lost the tax savings on the trade-in though ...

For the OP, I financed ~22500 for 60 months @ 1.94%, payments are somewhere in the 390s (393 I think, I $400 on mine per month just for the round number so I can't remember the exact number). Insurance for me, 35yo single male in Florida with no claims/tickets counting against me is about 150/month.
Wow, where did you get such a low rate?

I'm really excited to get the car and the way I justify it to myself is that I originally planned on getting a Limited, but when I found the Premium seats more comfortable I figured the $2k markup is roughly the difference btw. the two trim levels, so I'm basically paying MSRP for a limited but getting a Premium, which is fine by me

I honestly feel like this car is such a great value and I'm still well under $30,000...

Try a credit union, the dealer will likely want to price match whatever rates you qualify for at the credit union. I did penfed, and they matched it.

Just out of curiosity, what made you decide to do the financing through the dealer instead of straight from PenFed? I've always done my car loans through them and never had an issue. They approved me for a 1.49% rate but if there's some sort of advantage to having the dealer match it then I might go ahead and let them.
