Swap out stock wheels and tyres upon car delivery or no?
Hi guys,
as the title suggests, should I do this or keep them on the stock for a while first? I'm planning on getting the 17x7 +45 enkei EV5 wheels and some kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 tyres. I know that the enkei wheels are lighter than the stock wheels and that the kumho tyres are close to on par with the stock tyre weight. Am I better off putting new wheels on straight away when my car is delivered knowing that the enkei wheels are actually lighter or should I keep the stocks on for a little while and see how she feels stock?

not to be a douche, but did you have to make a thread for this?
clearly you should drive it around stock and then change the wheels out to see the difference. Am I missing something? would you be unable or at a disadvantage if you did that?

Just wanting to know if the people here in the same situation regretted going one way or the other, if from a financial perspective going with new wheels right off the bat is a pointless excercise at this point in time if the stock wheels themselves are pretty good.

I would wait until you get tired of the stock wheels first. The whole "new stock car" should keep you happy for a few months at least.

![]() lol...so very true. Although I won't be drifting too much myself, the signature's just an homage to what Toyota/Subaru markets the 86 as.

Well I wouldn't say you will necessarily regret changing wheels but I really think that getting the same size as stock and only 3mm offset difference you are going to regret.

Enkei EV5s are 20 lb., though (19.85, anyway). Stock are, what, 20.1 lb.?

Seems pretty pointless to buy new rims that aren't going to help your car perform at a greater potential. I'd drive it stock until a tire change is necessary, then look for a wheel/tire combo.

You're absolutely right ZDan, that's my bad. I'd gotten the figures mixed up with the enkei RP03s which are around the 17.X lbs mark, which I am also considering, just much more expensive compared to the EV5s.

Yes I think I'm going to have to feel it stock first
...although this will totally piss my dad off who wants to scalp the stock GT wheels off me and slap them on this Toyota Hilux
