I have had my AST 5100 series suspension for multiple years, on track, on the street, in MN and MI winters. I bought them lightly used.

Summer 2024: FR shock blew. FL and FR were sent into Performance Shock Inc (PSI) to be rebuilt. Rears were not sent in. Received end of September. From this point on, the car was not drove a ton, and maybe accumulated 1,000-1,500 miles on the street.

Early February: Went to play with dampening to see if I could maybe adjust it to get a tad better grip in the snow. Went to adjust both fronts, both of them didnt budge. Mentioned this to PSI

Early July: about 2,000 miles put on since February. FL shock blew. Sent in to PSI to get inspected with the incredibly short lifespan. Entire inside of shock was incredibly corroded, it was bad. They said they could not be rebuilt. I asked about options, as a lot of things point towards a bad rebuild (it happens), but they didnt give me much besides replacing them fully on my dime.

AST: I contacted AST about the situation, as PSI represents them a lot in the US. Between not getting responses for extended periods of time, lots of back and forth, they sided with PSI, claiming a lack of maintenance and light winter driving were the cause. I tried questioning about what maintenance is supposed to be done by a customer besides getting them rebuilt by a professional, and inquired why a fresh rebuild would suddenly fail after one winter when the OE rebuild lasted 3+ winters with many more miles. Silence. I have been ghosted since.

Not impressed by the situation nonetheless. I was trying to be reasonable and offered to pay for part of the replacement as long as they were willing to work with me. I am planning to switch suspension, probably go with RCE, but still looking at options.
That sucks, royally.

Just adds to my lack of luck over the past year. We will have it ready at the very latest this time next year. More so disappointed by the loss of trust in AST.
