The exact same thing, although I'm not sure if I should get a comp or not as I'm not sure I want the extra complication from the S55 over the N55

Been doing the same sort of research you've probably already been doing and came across your posts on another forum and did a double take lol.

Haha small world! There is another build thread on bimmerpost from a ft86club member turned m owner.

I was looking at the comp but it’s a lot more money here in tax/insurance and the car itself.

Not sure you can go wrong with either option both need a little extra work for piece of mind on track and suspension upgrades to alignment so its not like going comp will save you money lol but it is the cooler version

I'm looking at LCI OG's and the price difference between them and comps isn't massive. Although I'd be more interested in the comp if they all had the 6pot brake setup, but they seem to be very rare and out of my price range.

We are insanely lucky here with tax as both of them isn't much difference between the two.

Definitely looking more at a LCI OG which would give me a bit more budget for a brake upgrade. Theres an AP kit here that you can get which uses lightly used BTCC rotors which are much cheaper than most other replacement rotors.

Although I'm considering just trying RSL29's with a ducting kit, but I do wonder if the factory setup will still be enough on track.

IDK why I wasn't really pressed about finding an LCI... I did get a 2017 but it just missed the cut off lol. I kinda like that the gauges light up orange so I am happy plus the PO swapped over to the LED tail lights. LED headlights would have been great but oh well mine doesn't even have heated seats but at least they are power haha

Anyway I been on track with mine already and no issues with the brakes. I hear mixed things about them.... If you're looking to hammer on the car for 20+ mins they might not hold up. I have a brake cooling kit I need to install and I am hoping that will be the only upgrade I need for the brakes.

They do sell better 2 piece rotors that should cool better than the OEM ones. If I can get 5-7 laps I will be happy otherwise I guess I need to shop around for a AP kit

here is my build thread btw

For me Bedford autodrome is my local track which has some pretty heavy braking zones. I do wonder if the factory setup would stand up to that with just pads and ducting.

Brands indy I can see it not being an issue, but Donnington and Snetterton might.

Was looking at the LCI cars here because the pre-lci ones are in the 'innit bruv' price range with lots of ropey badly modified ones.

Really wanna get one now, but I'll be out of the country for a bit so hopefully I'll be in one at the end of May. I'll have to sign up at bimnmerpost at some point although I'm hoping it won't be as hard as getting my account activated here haha.

This was the AP kit I saw on someone elses M2 track build

Yeah fair enough. The Irish market is a bit different haha. It’s hard to say if the stock brakes will hold up for you or not. I guess best thing you can do is budget for the ap kit and hope you don’t need it lol
